Life after bankruptcy?

NoHope, I volunteer with a charity called TimeBank, http://timebank.org.uk/
the good thing about this particular group that I work with, is you only have to volunteer your time when you are available and if anyone wants help. It is called timebanking.
Why not take a look?0 -
I know that when i feel down I rest so i can get my strength back. I always try to do voluntary work but my diabetes consultant get's cross as he reckons i am wearing myself out. See how you feel NH and remember to be kind to yourself. Your health comes first.Aiming for a minimal spend 20220

Thanks for your info guys. I will look into it, although i've been thinking of volunteering on a rather larger scale and making a complete life change. Maybe now is the time to go for it, since i no longer have anything to lose. More along the lines of wildlife and conservation.
Sorry sw - i hate period dramas with a vengance, other than Little Women, which i've always had a soft spot for .Not seen it around for the last few xmases, though.Debt free - Is it a state of mind? a state of the Universe? or a state of the bank account?

Even if you fill the criteria for a 'charity case', NH, why should that stop you? If you want to offer your help, just go ahead. After all, someone who's been through the mill is bound to have a much more real understanding of need than someone who has never been there.
Hopeless, please don't give up posting... I think Maty was right, there's been a miscommunication, but there are plenty of people around who can help, even where a situation seems hopeless to those involved.Miggy

Hi Nohope,
I hope you are well and you sound much more positive. Dreams that turn into ideas that turn into plans are great - it means that you are doing something that will make you feel fantastic when it comes off.
I am a huge believer in creating and taking opportunities that life offers us - and Yes I have ended up in a rented flat, working part time, in my middle age but, by God, have I had an interesting life. I have travelled the world, learned to speak Spanish fluently and have a wealth of memories (not all bad!) to look back on.
I say Go for it, you certainly need to change your life because you can't go on working the hours that you do. New Year, New Life, New You.....
Have a good day

startagain, sounds a bit like my life . I've done so much already, but its difficult not to look back with regret and wish i'd changed the course of my destiny earlier. I suppose thats called beating yourself up.
Theres a really inspiring, ( and sad ), programme on tv tonight called the bear family and me. It started last night. Few people could earn the trust of a black bear, like this. Few people would want to. Few people could put themselves in that situation. Never show fear. I've had contact with many animals that would attack others. Because they know i'm not frightened of them. Be fearless.
Maybe i'm re-finding myself again.Debt free - Is it a state of mind? a state of the Universe? or a state of the bank account?

Don't forget that we are what we are and where we are because of what has happened in our lives previously. You may never have reached this stage where you are possibly on the brink of doing something totally different that you would never have considered if your life had taken a different path.
Sometimes you have to go down a fair way before you realise that it is time to turn things around and start back up again.
I have finally learnt that money and material things are not compulsory in order for me to feel happy.
Instead - Paying my bills on time (almost)
Having the time to go for a long walk
Being able to say this is MY flat, MY car, and MY life mean so much more than having a fancy house that belongs to the bank, a fancy car that belongs to the finance company and a fancy job that means I live and breathe it 24/7. No thanks, not any more.
Consider the rest of your life as ME time and start thinking about making yourself happy. You deserve it.
Best wishes

Thanks Nohope .... and the same to you.
Find yourself a happy place, either physically or mentally, preferably both, and learn to enjoy the little, free things in life. They are all around us, believe me. We get stuck like hamsters on a wheel going round and round and don't take in what is really going on.
You sound so much more positive and I am so pleased that you can start taking your baby steps.
My baby step this month is to rejoin a singles, social club in my area - I am actually going to start mixing with people again....
Have a great day
Keep up with the diary - I am supporting you all the way.
