Ani, I've long thought you tie your identity and sense of worth in very closely with your work. No work of course means no money so no wonder you are down when there's nothing doing. Yet here we are with a week in which you have work - and I'm supposing the money is still not hitting your account - and we have the happier Ani.

I wonder why this is? I was thinking about it and I can imagine some good reasons for you to tie in 'self' and 'work'... just remember we who don't know you as your working self still find 'value' in you. :)

Your'e right. There is very little money to hit my account, for the next month, despite the fact i'm working.

Do i tie in self and work? Maybe i do, since that was the only thing which kept me going, last year. An escape route? Where you can forget about everything else, during working time? Or are some people natural workacholics? Or do some people simply work, to replace everything that is missing in their lives? On the other hand, work could be your social life?

Value, amazing. Oh dear, miggy :D

I wuz miggy - but I didn't help at the Big Build - unless you count my partying skills. :D

Your work sounds worse and worse. :( It's not their business how much rent you pay of course... the cheek of it!

Ani - you okay? Hoping you're just at work, it's been a long time since you last posted (like yesterday evening).

I shouldn't have been on tinternet last night. I was back late from work, and had some more work to do, but i was too hot and tired to contemplate it. Which means i had to do it this morning, and i still haven't finished yet. Just got in now, and again, i don't feel like working, but its either tonight or early tomorrow morning. :(

No need to say anything. Maybe it will be the right thing at the right time, or else it won't.

    Mike

but I do look round if anyone says 'Lisa' which is a bit weird. There's a book running on whether you're a man or a woman. I reckon a bloke, but does it matter? Gender is very overrated...

    :rotfl::rotfl:

Which bookies? I'll be off first thing tomorrow morning to have a few bob, myself, ( well i could if i had any money). :rotfl:

Aesop, i hope you have had a better day today :grouphug:

Maybe i do thrive on work, and i was always taught not to ask anyone for anything. Self sufficient, not.

I had a pleasant surprise tonight. A letter from hmrc. This is it. The last time i spoke to them, they said my income was too low to receive wtc. BH, they have increased it. I'm very shocked. Its almost doubled, not quite, but not as much of an insult. Not enough to live on either, but at least its a regular amount going into my account on a weekly basis. Although i'd prefer a larger amount monthly, i chose weekly, because how many times have i reached the place when i've no idea when any money will go into my account? and i only have a few pence. The only difficulty is, its impossible to predict my earnings in any one week, so i'll have to keep an even closer check on my income.

Its ironic, i saw someone today who said to me, are you still doing this? it must be 30 years now. Not so far off the mark, you have a good memory, and it feels like yesterday. Eveyone always says to me, are you still doing this? It makes me so sad to see the industry failing. I heard yesterday, another company has just gone under / folded. I've only just worked for them and fortunately they have just paid me. I don't think there is any pay outstanding, but i should double check. More jobs lost. Where does it all end? This one will affect other people more than me.

I realise i have alot to be thankful for in the next few weeks. I'm entering one of those periods when i'm working day and night, almost, and i know for a fact, i've got most of the work around. There's still rumblings of a contract which could provide me substantial work for a period of time. But this storm has been rumbling for a long time, and there are never any guarantees.

At some stage i'll have to accept it is finally over. Its soul destroying to watch it all disintegrate around you. You would have thought i'd taken the message on board, by now.

I must make an effort and go and do this work, now.

I have written three, not that many people read them... :(

I'm not surprised you have written, as you write so well - three is jolly good going! But are these in some way technical and thus above the powers of ordinary readers? You are yet to publish 'From Bridle to Big Build: my battle with the ultimate cowboy builder' and 'Actually my name is Mike - The Lisa Waters story'.

I somehow think you have a market for them.

There is also the children's version: 'Neville's New Home'.:D (Please may I do the pictures? Please, please! :D)

    Typical understatement from Miggy...

She will never know how she and others like her who didn't appear on the telly helped me and my family.

    Still waters run deepest.

Eternally grateful. You know that. x

Aw Mike - now you've made me cry, and that takes a bit of doing. :)
But do you know, the pleasure was all mine, and it's been my privilege to be involved at all.

not at work thur/fri! thank goodness!

did ms job and went and delivered something to someone.

went to wacky warehouse today with DS and friend from nursery which was lovely for them both. They had a great time. And what was better, we should have been charged by the hour for being there and the staff changed over and never told us to leave or pay more :D so 3 hours for the price of 1.

must admit was thinking about what you said about ani, miggy.

I think ani is happy when ani knows there is work and potential of getting paid, whether it is now or in 3 months time. Also ani is happy when working as they enjoy their job?
