Time to unlurk, methinks...
I posted this today on another thread, but - hey - I'm going to post it here too...
Some MSE members and my kids and I celebrated the anniversary, this weekend, of my wrecked house being rebuilt.
I mention it to give a little bit more hope to those who are going through their own personal hells. It sounds so twee to say 'hang in there, it gets better...' but it does.
More importantly - and I can say this from experience - it also gets better in ways you can't currently imagine. And you won't be able to predict what will happen to get you there either.
I've had a crap five years, but I am gradually recovering all the things I lost. Stuff I took completely for granted, such as having a house, car, job and enough money to pay the bills.
Life won't ever be the same again but in many ways that's no bad thing. It seemed good at the time but there was a lot missing that I pretended wasn't important. Like many others, I was anxious about jumping, and had to be pushed.
I got back on the track by talking to my lovely GP, taking the meds recommended, demanding help, seeking out and talking to other people going through bad stuff, and learning to open up. Then accepting what was offered.
I realised that we are all very similar underneath, and that it's great talking to people with problems who have found ways forward that you can also try.
Don't live in a bad atmosphere, or somewhere you are unhappy. Don't stay with someone who undermines you. There are millions of very nice people out there who will like you too.

An excellent post - post of the month for me, with good advice for many not just the OP."If you can bear to hear the truth you've spoken
Twisted by knaves to make a trap for fools"

Ani, you've got lurkers! :eek::eek::eek:
Aesop, sorry things are so vile at work. No wonder you keep quiet. So hard not to get sucked into it too... I keep thinking of things you could have said - but keeping well out of it is wiser.I hope today's gone better and something else comes up soon.
Saz - genius! And we know Ani can also iron too so they could set up a business and get twice the amount done (maybe a bit less as they would have to have alternate tea breaks to go on MSE) and Ani's car, well can you just imagine the sheer classiness of having your ironing delivered in a car with leather seats?I will be your first customer - don't care if I can't afford it, it will be worth it.
Mike - lovely to see you! You are the proof the impossible can and does happen. Remember the skip and the mural... happy days!
And Ani again: must be your influence, I have got through an entire post without multiquoting.Miggy
