You couldn't fail to laugh, not at you miggy, but at the irony of what you wrote :p

Back to seriousness. Its been another cleaning day. Have i told you i hate cleaning almost as much as writing, ( and scales ). I've never cleaned so much. Thats it now. No more cleaning. You could eat your dinner anywhere. Off the floor, in the loo. Maybe i should have looked for a job instead. I've looked at all the jobs available, ( or not ). Anyway, techically i have a job. A job i for the most part, still love, after all these years. Because i like variety, being self employed, ( do i ). Of course i do. I also like / need to earn money. But i'm as stubborn as a mule. Nothings changed there, then.

Rang up about wtc today, as i'm new to all this benefits malarkey, i wasn't sure if i had to renew, with all this renewal thing, even though i've only had two payments. Let them know my income has gone down. I was shocked to learn they might not give me wtc at all, because of this. I'd better make sure my income goes up, fairly quickly. Its all in the lap of the gods. I couldn't work out why i hadn't had any back dated payments. This is dealt with seperately. Its not a huge amount, but i hope it arrives in august, as august is going to be an even leaner month, paywise, given i've been off, for most of july. Its a shame i can't say its been a holiday, but you can't when you are stressed out about money, and it dominates your thoughts. I still haven't received the cheque from the charity for my car insurance, and i don't like to ring them. Help.

I've been putting off repairing my car. I can't put it off any longer. Sunday, if its fine.

the problem with working tax credit, it is only paid if you work 30 hours or more a week, if you are a single person. That is why they may stop paying you, if your hours go down, not so much because what you earn goes down! logic? what logic?

So in effect you can be better off if you work longer hours for abbysmal pay?

Is there a spell checker on this thing, and how come, this being the UK, it's not called a 'spelling checker'?

Ani, I shall lay awake wondering what I said, now! You train people to buy tickets in Bahrain? You repair conveyor belts in Moscow? I'm no longer so sure you're a self-employed Tax Inspector. :p

if you type something wrong, it will highlight with a red wobbly line underneath, right click on this and it will try to give you the correct spelling.

Just tried it... can't get it to work... help! :D I wonder if I turned something off sometime? On the other hand I can't often see images on MSE either so goodness knows what I've done there.

I have just discovered the shortcut showing quotations - how long has that been there?!

Perhaps I am just so used to doing things my own (wrong) way that the computer has given up on me. (Typos all over the place tonight and the computer just says 'Don't look at me, luv, I did try to tell you, and did you listen? Did you 'eck?')

Yes. Seemingly you do have to work longer hours, for rubbish pay.

I DID tell them i was would consider adopting children, as any dependants are clearly one of the key criteria, in any benefit claim. Sorry if this rubs anyone up the wrong way, but it is true.

Its shocking i could lose wtc as quickly ( or not ), as it arrived.

They agree i'm in a catch 22 situation regarding housing benefit. No, i'm not going to say why, for obvious reasons. But the landlord can rest assured their property is cared for, if not loved, and the rent is always miraculously paid. This is all anyone needs to know.

Is this what is called the poverty trap? I'm not even on the breadline, ( since i cannot afford to buy bread ). Next stop cardboard city, or option B?

I think it's true - dependents do just that - depend - hence provision for them. However, that assumes that the willing adult without dependents is more able to find work than the person without!

I suppose the idea is that the person wanting to work must be willing to take any kind of work - there isn't much thought that they might be in a situation where they have to pay a certain amount in rent and living expenses and be unable to move into cheaper housing.
