I'm never likely to be a lottery winner, as i never buy a lottery ticket, and i don't have any friends. :D

Idea of the day? Poaching eggs? game? or fish? :D

I wish i had a smilie of a ghost, but unfortunately i don't, so you'll have to imagine one _pale_ Will this suffice?

    I don't have romantic backdrops, unfortunately. :)

If I were you I might fictionalise my story: change names and places etc. and throw in a few extra dark and stormy nights (what do you mean, can't fit in any more?), add a romantic backstory for your previous home if it doesn't have one already and of course finish it up with you standing on the seafront somewhere (wind in your hair, cry of gulls, smell of fish and chips) gazing across the grey horizon with a Force Eight howling round you and the November evening drawing to a close...

Sounds perfect, otherwise. Personally i prefer true stories, and why fictionalise a true story? Talking of seagulls, its now or never.

The only reason to fictionalise it would be to preserve your privacy. If this doesn't bother you, when I get the hang of how to make the large red arrow to go over my house, I will make one for you too. :)

Then both of us will get stalked by people in hot air balloons with binoculars.

I will join you in not being a lottery winner - I don't buy tickets either. I am doing everyone else a favour, aren't I? When they win and leave the workforce there has to be someone left to take on their shifts.

Romantic backdrop for the house? Built by an obscure local nobleman who secreted smuggled rum under the floorboards. When the house was sold by his demented grand daughter in 1910, the nouveau riche buyers added the North Tower, which was destroyed by a bomb in WWII, uncovering the remains of the hoarded rum. This was auctioned at (insert name of auction house) and the proceeds given to a convent in which the deceased heir apparent's grieving fiancee lived the remainder of her days. Meanwhile the house stayed in the family, passing to the younger son who never lived there but toured the world lecturing on Art and let the house out to eccentric friends. It was inhabited by a commune during the 1960s, became a school in the 1970s and in 1984 was bought by X, otherwise known as Ani, who stayed up till 2 every morning when not working, researching whether local tales of more stashed rum were to be substantiated, and training a squadron of maverick seagulls to guard the site of the destroyed tower, which is, of course, reputedly haunted by a former owner who appears on dark and stormy nights.

The only bit of poaching I'm likely to get done is poaching your story. :)

P.S. anyone who thanks Miggy for 'this useful post' has to have their head examined. :D
