i stayed and stared into space, thinking, what the heck? as i simply could'nt be bothered to initiate conversation. :rotfl:

Couldn't you have rung one of your fellow diners? ;)

I love my computer and am fairly good friends with my mobile though I don't use it for talking very much... at work yesterday I was in one of those situations where I had to be somewhere and not do anything... just be there, and I absolutely zapped my previous score on Tetris on my phone. :) Result. :D

However, apart from a handful of programmes, mostly on Ch 4, I could cheerfully put a brick through the TV - or better still a heavy frying pan, as that gives more scope for pounding to dust. :D To me it steals people away and as for me joining them, why should I fill my head with unhappy stories? (But the astute among you may ask why I then come and chat on here?! The difference is that here I try to do something about it not be a passive spectator to misery, fear and other gratuitous undesirables).

Ooh, I'm getting quite wound up for a Monday morning, sorry! :D

Ani, any possible jobs in your search? Did you ring that nursing home or have you thought better of it? Somehow, based on what I know of you and of the job, I think you'd be good - though maybe steer clear of mentions of zorbing. :D

Re, fellow diners - yes i could since i had a list of phone numbers, and in retrospect, this would have been hilarious :rotfl:

I must admit, i watch channel 4 most often, as i enjoy documentaries, nature programmes, fred dibs, and such like. Hey, i saw fred dibs cap the other day, the one he got married in. How cool is that :rotfl:

No i have'nt rung the nursing home. I would'nt say its a question of me not being bothered, so much as a gut feeling this isn't right for me? Where do you cross the boundary of compromising yourself? I can hear you all - when you have no money. Plus - this level of commitment to a job means it infringes on a job i really DO want to do, and i don't want to run the risk of losing this, such as it is.

So perhaps it would be better to look for something part time, so you will have hours free for your main job?

Think carefully before committing to working nights. :)

I think it was 20 ish hours a week, which means it was'nt full time, and means i could only ' do ' my job at weekends, plus the pay was diabolical. Sometimes you are between a rock and the deep blue sea. Maybe i should ring and see what they have to say?

Tell me about nights I've worked nights followed by days, ( with around two hours sleep a day), for several consecutive xmasses, now. :p

Very close equivalent to mine. :D I do, though, have the benefit of DH on a f/t wage.

If the nursing home job was to do with activities, they might be glad of someone willing to work unsocial hours?

Also - don't just look at it as an hourly wage - when it's multiplied up to an annual income, would it be enough to be of use? If not, then look elsewhere.

I was talking to someone who used to work there, and they said they wouldn't work there, and they also thought the job was during the day, mon to fri. In fact, they seemed so well informed, i asked why they did'nt apply, as they seemed perfect for the job. I think ,no way, was the reply.

    Uh-oh... maybe not then. _pale_

Anything else of possible interest on the horizon yet?

The answer to this, is no. There isn't an abundance of jobs, in the real world, whatever anyone may say or think. I've always had the attitude there is a job for anyone who wants one, but sometimes its seems you have to consider how for you are willing to be exploited, ( yes i know, i'm already exploited ).

Just for you miggy, i've rung the nursing home, and i've been told to ring back tomorrow. I have some work starting to trundle in slowly until the end of july, but there is going to be a big gaping hole, when i've no pay. Still not heard about wtc, which i'm not surprised about. Just got some pay from 3 months ago, and should have been paid yesterday, but was'nt and should be paid tomorrow from somewhere else, so i've been checking that, had to put cheque in bank, and i've generally been tearing my hair out, this afternoon. To some extent, i'd forgotten what its like to be this stressed about money, ( or the lack of it ). I've spent my £2 pot, but i've still got £1 in my savings account. :rotfl:

With virtually no money, and all the chasing up done, its back to finishing the cleaning , tomorrow, and i must tidy out the garage. I've still got documents which need destroying. How long do you keep all the carp, from before?
