The answer to this, is no. There is'nt an abundance of jobs, in the real world, whatever anyone may say or think.

Our local paper certainly seems a bit lean on the jobs front. I suppose the tide will turn eventually - probably just after one of us publishes a book on how to live frugally. :D

There's a thought - is there a book in you?

and i've been told to ring back tomorrow.

Good luck. :) It won't hurt to find out more whether or not you end up applying.

I'm glad there's some of your usual work on the horizon, and some pay... hope it turns up soon.

How long do you keep all the carp, from before?

H'm... I think (don't quote me) that financial records have to be kept for seven years but lots of other stuff can go after a year or so. Sorry, you're going to have to ask someone who knows what they're talking about. :D

Usual work disappeared as quickly as it came :(

Will ring the home, shortly. I've got to be realistic and say yes, it might be £100 a week guaranteed, but lets face it, i can't live on £100 a week. Can anyone? Not when rent costs more than that, alone. I need a ' proper ' salary of at least £15 - £20k pa, not £5k pa. At least then i could budget, i'd know exactly what i had, and maybe i could continue with some sort of life.

Is there a book in me? I wouldn't aspire to be so great. Do you mean writing a book on living frugally? Although i'm probably an expert, many people in real life are too ingrained into being consumerism snobs. I mainly buy rejects, of everything. An example. I bought a bag of broken chocolate. The shop assistant recommended to another customer, they buy a bag. OOOOOoooooo no, i can't buy broken chocolate. Why ever not? It all goes down the same way, and tastes the same. I was working somewhere recently, and the amount of food wasted made me want to cry. Nothing wrong with it. I wanted to say, hang on a minute, i'll have some of that. But of course, i couldn't.

Or write a book on bankruptcy and how to survive after bankruptcy? As i'm still very cynical about this, maybe this wouldn't be a good idea. I think there is this theory that you go bankrupt and all your problems are solved and you are supposed to be positive and all nicey nicey about it. This may be true for some people, but its not always going to be the case. I don't miss my home as much now, as i don't have the huge financial responsibility / drain of owning a hovel in the hills, anymore. Hearing some couples in discussion the other day, they were all talking about the same topic. Decorating and b & *. Thankfully i don't have to think about any of these things, anymore. This place isn't mine, its not decorated to my taste, i don't even know if you you are allowed to decorate, i don't know how long i'll be here, ( until they want to sell ), so maybe i've just got the feeling of being in transit. To where, who knows?

Anyway i hate writing, i'm absolutely rubbish at it, and i could never sit and apply myself to writing all day, every day. This would make jack a very dull person.

Blimey, look at the time. In the time its taken me to write this, its time to ring the home. Nothing ventured, nothing gained, huh?

I'm disappointed now. The job was filled a while ago and shouln't be on the website.( even though it was a new posting ), Starting rate at £6 an hour, too, and it WAS just about within walking distance, health permitting. Thinking about it, thats the problem with most of the jobs on job websites. They aren't actually available.

Disappointment and cynicism creeps in. If i were going to be any writer, i'd be jkr, ( from the money aspect, as i've never read any of her books ).

You'll need to keep business records for up to six years - or longer if HMRC starts a check. See the section 'How long should you keep your records' for more on this.
Set up a basic record keeping system - read further information from Business Link ( Opens new window)

ani, I think you should write a book. It could be about anything, but you do have a good writing style.

You could dictate it to a tape recorder, or something, and ask someone else to write it for you. A ghost writer ;)

Hello all (I'm another who wasn't the Euromillions winner).

Ani, what a let down. I'm sorry they left the job up and disappointed you.

Some people where I work arrange to have all their hours in a block so they can carry out two p/t jobs. Two or more jobs is becoming more common, I think. In fact it was saying on the news that some companies are 'downbanding', i.e. giving people the choice of redundncy or a pay cut, so there are going to be many more people on reduced incomes and that's going to mean more people finding ways to earn form more than one source.

Idea of the day: take up poaching?

I don't know if sitting writing solidly works for all of us. It doesn't for me - but it's a great displacement activity. ;) As you probably guessed, I love writing and can waffle on for hours though there are a few holes in my style. The only difference I would make to your style is to iron out a few commas (I have to do the same with exclamation marks - before editing this sentence would have had several!) - but a proof reader would do that for you.

If I were you I might fictionalise my story: change names and places etc. and throw in a few extra dark and stormy nights (what do you mean, can't fit in any more?), add a romantic backstory for your previous home if it doesn't have one already and of course finish it up with you standing on the seafront somewhere (wind in your hair, cry of gulls, smell of fish and chips) gazing across the grey horizon with a Force Eight howling round you and the November evening drawing to a close...

There. Now you can fill in the details. :D

You are quite welcome to ask me to ghost-write (:D) but make very sure you read it through with a lage bucket of tippex to hand before sending it anywhere.

As to disappointed and cynical - I'm sure you will find readers!

And Aesop - nice to hear from you. :) Sorry the computer is still sick but glad you can get online at work. Thanks for the link, it sounds useful. I keep far too much as I never know what I might need (DH is dreaming of fire and flood to riid us of it all).
