Hi Ani, glad to hear there's a trickle of work even if the chippie isn't it.

Boo to the rust spot... but I agree with FW, hold on to that car (easier said than done, sorry). By the way are you doing online surveys and such like while you have a bit of time? It doesn't bring in a lot but it's something.

Re: Beanie's link - can you get access to a library computer to watch?

And it's good to hear you have real-life people around and are able to help your neighbour out. It so sad that an older person can't even enjoy sitting out because they think it's too risky. I wonder how many people are prisoners in their own homes and we don't know it?
I don't know if the silence around BR and other issues is denial: I suppose it's not a run of the mill conversational gambit, though, and our polite norms create a very dangerous mask whereby we chatter away and it passes for human contact but behind it all there are important things needing to be addressed. Hovel Lady's right that this forum is so successful because it lets people find and talk to others about money. There are threads here dealing with all sorts of other things too, bereavement, clutter, weight etc. etc. - all things we gloss over so politely irl but which need to be talked about.

I remember at the age of 23 meeting someone for the first time who I could talk to on a level about life with a sibling with a severe disability. We had never met before and we stayed up for hours sharing experiences. It meant so much just to find someone who knew what I was talking about.

I'm intrigued about the £1.30 trip! I hope the rain holds off and you enjoy it! R&R can be about constructive 'doing' as well as sleep, I guess. (Ani heads off to the nearest care home to find older people to sit with, gets head-hunted by staff desperate for more colleagues, suddenly finds self with a full diary and no time to spend talking to aforesaid older folk... well, we can dream. Mum's care home has a great bunch of staff but at the same time they soooo need more).

Anyway enough of my waffle, I know you can't just walk into that sort of job even if you are good with people. There are jobs in the care sector but not a lot with yachts. :D

Bet you look very impressive with the cap on! :D:D

Just been outside talking to neighbours, again. It has to be said, they are a good crowd, around here, and i speak to someone almost everyday. This was one of the things i was upset about when moving. The rapoort i had with my nieghbours.

Its funny you should say about the elderly. The only job i was interested in, on the government website, was entertaining the ' old folks ', not caring, something i would be good at. Thinking of things for them to do, is my forte.

Not done much today. I've got ' hooked up ' with the crewing website, the downside being you have to pay to subscribe, which unfortunately, i don't have the funds for, right now. Just checking out other sites. Theres a project in 2013, which would suit me down to the ground, sailing out to tahiti. At least its a boost to morale to find there are possibilities, and refreshing to know i have the basic qualifications required for any of these yachting trips, even if i have'nt used the skills for a few years. In fact, some of them request people like me.

    Back to yachts, and dreaming.......................................

Ani - GET YOURSELF DOWN THERE! (Sorry... :o) You don't need an NVQ in Social Care or whatever it's called, to be a natural - even if it's not permanent, you would be doing both yourself and them a favour. You will probably find there is a piano and they would like a sing-along, or a trip to the seaside for fish and chips, or just someone to talk to and you know you would come into your own with them. And as you say, you have the imagination to come up with all sorts of things in addition, and people respond to you...

Not that I know anything of course. :D

Sailing to Tahiti?! And the timing is fantastic - just after you finish your first job working with the elderly. :D

Seriously, that sounds so good. It wouldn't hurt to apply, would it? :D

In seriousness, i did find one site which looks interesting, but they charge you for joining. In that case it might be worth reading a yachting mag, ( in the newsagents, without purchasing ) :rotfl:

Maybe i'll give the nursing home a ring tomorrow, however i've decided since i AM a spontaneous person, that i will do my ermm, day out, tomorrow, with or without that firewalker person :D

Do the day out; I'll be there in spirit. Otherwise I'll be chained to my desk doing stuff and eating frogs. You have to have some fun - and btw fun doesn't have to cost money. Ingenuity will do.
