Are you talking 'work ethic' or 'not going on benefits'?

If it is work ethic, could you go on benefits but volunteer for 40 hours a week for a charity? That way you wouldn't be living the life of riley - you could consider it working for a charity but being paid by the government. Not a bad trade-off, since there are so many government cuts it could simply be seen as displacement or redistribution of funds. You benefit, the charity benefits, the recipients of your work benefit, the country benefits. And it would give you time and space to regroup.

If you mean you don't want to 'go on benefits' you could consider it an informal loan. Give yourself the time and space to get sorted, find a better way of earning so that when you start earning again at a higher salary you will be 'repaying' the 'loan' by an increased amount into the government coffers.

Yes, this is one idea, and currently i'm awating all my p's so i can go to the cab, benefts office, wherever, and demand i'm rewarded with the benefits of being a taxpayer for 10's of years. Unfortunately, due to the mistake of someone sat in an an office at hmrc, or the IS, everything was frozen when i went bankrupt, and i was'nt allowed to start paying NI conts until the back end of last year. No one knows why. It could only happen to me, for sure. But it now means i have'nt paid my ni conts for the best part of the year, and i still have'nt had the spare cash, to do so.

With that, its 20.30 on a saturday night, and i've had enough of working. Sleep beckons

I wasn't implying you are thick or stupid, Ani. I'm sorry I gave that impression.

Yes, I am self-employed, which is why I am trying so hard to understand your situation. I, too, of course have done loss-making jobs for one reason or another. I, too, work long hours. I work, and have done for years, seven days a week. Last year I had two days off for non-family related reasons - one in April and then on Christmas day. So far this year, bereavement days aside, I have had one day off. So I think I do know where you are coming from. I do some PAYE work as well - but that is my point precisely. After twenty years of freelancing, I found I couldn't get enough work and so I had to get a minimum-wage job to ensure a regular income alongside the self-employed work. I, however, am not talking about killing myself because of it. You are, which means that the situation for you isn't sustainable. That is very sad and you owe it to yourself to find a way out of the situation. That of course, when you are in the midst of it, is very difficult to do. I am not having a go at you. I would love you to find a way through this. And you can. If you want to.

If you are self-employed, why are you waiting for P60s? I thought it was only PAYE people that get these.

    So did i. Obviously not,as i've always received P**'s.

Such is the employment of myself and my colleagues, no one can put us into a box. I 'm not going to repeat myself again. How many times have i answered this question? Nor am i going to divulge my employment here, as i believe some of my colleagues may already be reading my diary. Not that it matters, anymore. Nothing matters anymore, except the fact that there clearly is something wrong with me, in the way i think, view things, my ability to cope with things. It does'nt matter, except i've always been such a private person, you keep things to yourself, and deal with them yourself. Maybe i was brought up in a very draconion manner. In fact, you were'nt allowed to have thoughts. You were'nt allowed to speak, and maybe i've always had problems conversing with human beings, and maybe it is easier to write things down, athough i would hate to admit it. I just don't fit into todays soceity, because i can't conform with my thoughts and attitudes.I guess i always have been different. But i'd rather be the black sheep, than one of the herd. I've succeeded in being uniquely, my own person, to some extent, whether that be good or bad. Occasionaly, the odd person has come along in life, who beyond the superficiality, has seen me for who i am. Not what others want me to be, or how soceity expects it to be.

But i'm not so set in my ways, that i did'nt enjoy the royal wedding. Even I can see, this is the future of the monarchy, which i expect the queen herself is having to embrace. I'm not so blinkered. am i?

Yes it is difficult to see the wood from the trees, to be caught up in it all. Every waking thought at the moment, is of myself as a money making machine, because thats what i need, at the moment. If i had some money behind me, then maybe i could take a chill pill. But i don't. I'm back to the big wait for the money to come in, again. Yes, the money is floating around the universe somewhere, but until its deposited into my account, my work is worthless.

Its difficult to cope with more than one thought at a time, and i largely still live, one day at a time, so until i have managed to build up a ' reserve ' of maybe one months rent, in advance, in my account, i can start turning my thoughts elsewhere. But i still need to pay my ni conts, up to date, otherwise this will affect any benefits i won't receive? And with someone asking for a copy of my passport, yesterday, i still realise i'll have to renew my passport, next month, just so i can continue working, as companies tighten the belt, on that front. Not because i'm planning on travelling anywhere, ever again. Yes, some one did mention running away. The idea greatly appeals. But then you need money to do that, don't you?

Am I right in thinking you don't pay tax and NI at source? That is, you pay tax and NI as a self-employed person through completing an annual tax return?

Strangely, i've just been reading my diary, and find that chunks of my diary have gone missing. As in, several days of posts. And more specifically when certain people made quite nasty and negative posts , to me, in my diary. I wonder what happened to them? Maybe the original posters forget the completely uncalled for comments that were made. Just goes to show its a moving thought process? Rise above it, as ever.

That's odd, Ani. I wonder if the people themselves deleted the comments, or, if someone complained about them, it mods deleted them?
Alternatively, could it be one of those blips that t'internet comes up with? As in, I knew someone who wrote an email that disappeared for months and was later delivered... but we never worked out where it went in the interim!

MSE Can choose to PPR - posting privileges removed, if enough complaints are made about a user, but this is not done lightly. MSE investigage and I believe have a team discussion about the user id, before they are PPR.

They did bring in a yellow card and red card system. So you get warnings before you get PPR.

BUT if you are a spammer, ie posting the same carp on every thread on up your income, grabbit, etc, they will automatically PPR you.

Are you thinking of someone in particular kerri?
