Postman signed for letter when we were not at home

can`t sleep either.was glad when my usual postie signed for me.when different postie on round letter went back(we had gone away that am) and by the time we got back it had been sent back to sender for sake of 10p underspent on postage.we have no idea what it was or who sent it.po sent it back earlier then stated on card too.

Ok I just asked my postie why he sometimes signs for my mail and posts it anyway. His explanation was that anyone can sign for a recorded delivery and not just the person it's addressed too. It's a proof of delivery, rather than a proof of delivery to the addressed person. The fact that he is standing on my doorstep and signing it on my doorstep before posting will be taking as proof enough. To have a complaint you would have to prove the postie is lieng about posting it, which you can't because you got it.

He's wrong. I bet if you asked his manager he wouldnt give that answer
