Perhaps it was jsut in the middle of a bunch of other letters and he missed that it needed signing for.

I really can't see him risking his job by signing your name.

My regular Postie has done this several times - and always he has left me a note saying he has signed for me ( saves me a 5 mile round trip to collect it). He also comes back later in his round on his way back to the sorting office if he's got a parcel for me and I've been out .

I know he shouldn't do it but I am grateful to him - its onlt once been a problem when he signed for something that I would have refused to accept if I'd been in ! But, even then, there was no way I would drop him in it by reporting him.

it wouldn't bother me in the slightest as long as i got my letter.
  • Bless the Postie! Ours does this all the time, and it's a great help. OK, it's against "The Rules", but it's a shining light in an otherwise dim and regimented society.

So, OP, you've got your letter (safely without having to take a trip to the Sorting Office to collect - so no long-term harm done there). you've had your answer whether the postie SHOULD have signed for it (although I'm sure you knew the answer to that before you posted) and you've had a number of opinions on what the postie did.

So what are YOU going to do?

At least he delivered it, My postman doesnt leave it and also doesnt leave a card to say he didnt leave it.

So we do not know we have missed a delivery, Thats something to complain about.

Also i think since the changes they stockpile the post and only deliver when the pile gets in their way.

Waiting for an item that was supposedly sent on the 16th (1st class). No post friday or saturday and none
    today either.

    From the OP

"I assume has been signed for by the postman" - best to find out before accusing anyone.

I have come home to letters signed by my postman.

I told him not to do it, so now he doesn't.
    No problem
