Im back
Dont groan Donnie lol
ok ive downloaded and installled all the microsoft updates last night
there was only one for drivers , how do i know if its a one i need to download ?
Havnt disabled the broadcom one yet as havnt downloaded and installed the other you mentioned , will do that today tho
Anything else important i need to get ?
Still saying there is a wireless network connection but havnt done that yet as you said to wait .0 -
It wouldn't be there if it was not for your system. Which Driver is it?
You don't need to install WZC, it's part of Windows. Disable the Broadcom software and follow the instruction in my link.
Also, follow these instructions to remove CTFMON.EXE
Do you have this icon on your Desktop?0 -
the driver is -- Intel 82852/82855 GM/GME Graphics Controller
Ive disabled broadcom and done WZC
Removed CTFMON.EXE
Yes i do have that icon with a red cross, im assuming that because we havnt connected wirelessly yet ?
Just rebooting back in a mo0 -
You can install the Driver if the date of the Driver is later than the one that you have installed(I'm sure it is). But you can double check by looking in the Device Manager and clicking on the item for more details.
Double click on the Wireless icon, click on Properties and then Wireless Networks. Enter a tick where it is written: Use Windows to configure my Wireless Network settings.0 -
Ive installed the driver havnt rebooted yet
When i double click on the wireless icon , there is no properties to click on, just wireless networks to connect to
Sorry ive not been around car trouble !0 -
Have sorted the wireless networks thing sorry !0

Have you installed VLC and Nero yet? What else do you intend to install? Be careful when and if you install Live Essentials that you install only what you need. Otherwise you can end up with the annoyingly useless Search Enhancement Pack.0

no i havnt installed either of those i dont really think he needs them to be honest
I understand you are trying to give me the best but the more he has the more he will fiddle with !
Havnt thought of anything else to install to be honest , no idea of live essentials never heard of it tbh !0 -
Not a problem. I have no idea of how old he is, so was thinking about what young 'un would do. Messenger(part of Live Essentials), watch films/DVDs, perhaps burn CDs. Bluetooth to transfer pics from mobile telephones..... But if you don't think he will do these things, then certainly he won't need the software.
You can uninstall the Broadcom software from Add/Remove Programs, as you don't need it any more.
So, all done?
Perhaps another HijackThis log to check it's all gone through.0 -
yea i understand mate he is 12 !
I know he does want MSN messenger can you get that apart from the Live essentials ?
I might well install VLC as he does watch a DVD now and again but he never burns CD's
Will uninstall broadcom now and then another Hijackthis log for you mate0
