Well the holiday was 4 nights on the Royal Scotsman Orient Express Monday to Friday - my cousin was celebrating her Golden Wedding Anniversary and invited friends and family to join them for a holiday on the Royal Scotsman, booking the whole train (36 people). The trip started when we assembled in teh First Class Lounge in Waverley Station, Edinburgh, and we were then escorted through the station by a piper to our platform, where the red carpet was laid out and champagne supplied. This set the tone for the whole holiday, as I said pure opulence. 4-course breakfasts, elevenses when out on a trp, 2-course lunch with wine, aternoon tea if out on a trip, and 3-course evening meal with wine for each course, followed by Belgian chocolates or Scottish cheeses and oatcakes.
As well as this, all the drink was included - you could have anything at any time. The champagne flowed and it was the best - we had vintage Dom Perignon, 30 different malt whiskeys, excellent wines, beers/lagers, and of course tea, coffee and hot chocolate.Mr 3Dogs 3-7-12

What a memory to cherish.
Oh it certainly was Beanie and we will never forget it. They treated us like royalty wherever we went, just because we were on the Royal Scotsman. People taking our photos, official welcomes at castles, afternoon tea with the Lady Laird on one trip - and everything was covered - you did not have to spend a penny from getting on the train to getting off. Oh, and whenever we had been on a trip, in our private executive coach in the same livery as the train, when we returned to the train, we were greeted with champagne cocktails.
There was Scottish entertainment every night - we danced the Gay Gordons and Strip the Willow on a station platform in the rain and dark one evening, until about 2 am. On the last evening, we danced the conga and sang Aulde Lang Syne on Dundee station platform. It was unbelievableMr 3Dogs 3-7-12
