I am a teacher who paid uni fees and has got a delightful student loan to pay back for doing a degree in teaching. I worked every weekend for spending money it was hard but I needed to do it so I did.
Last school year we were told our school had too many teachers and as a result I am now unemployed/ supply teaching. I have worked as a teacher for 4 years. I have joined a supply agency and since the 2nd week schools went back I have had offers of work. Yes I worry about what I am going to do over the school holidays but I'm sure there will be some work such as bar work to do. I don't know how claiming JSA works when you are supply teaching as there may be weeks when you work over 16 hours and would be a fool to turn down a day supply. If anyone has any info on this please share it.
You aren't the only person OP who is in this situation and people are trying to offer help. Be glad you got paid for your PGCE, many teachers don't get that!
Do bar work in the evenings if you need money and still want to work in the day. Don't shout at anyone else you are giving teachers a bad name.0
