Hey Laura, don't let them get your down. As soon as you mention wanting to claim something they come down on you like a ton of bricks. Ignore them.

I would agree with TrickyVickz (post 21) and look into working tax credits etc until something comes up.

Also, look into paying the NI contribution they say you owe in case you're ever in this position again.

    Good Luck :)
  • Did you work and pay NI for 08/09 and 09/10 tax years? If so you may qualify for conts based JSA next year if still unemployed but would have to stop claiming now and wait 12 weeks 1 day to reclaim. That claim which will be in 2011 will use those 2 tax years.
  • I've been in your position.

There's nothing you can do to change how things are. It's ridiculous and I could rant about it with you all day. But I won't. Just get out there, find A JOB. That job can be ANYTHING! Get a temp job. Do anything to earn some money to take the strain off your boyfriend and yourself. You can look for teaching jobs as well of course.

And sign on to get NI credits.

    Good luck.
  • Sambucus Nigra - Thank you for your help with my situation especailly stating 'But hey ho - I've got a long day at work tomorrow so I'd best get on.' I would just like to say I have managed to get work every day and no longer on JSA! Even the day after you posted that bit of helpful advice!! Next time when somebody is out of work through no fault of their own and comes on here for help maybe you should help instead of putting people down!! rant over!!

As mentioned before - this is an open forum. One can say what one wants - within reason.

Perhaps if you only want people to agree with you - you should make that clear in your opening post.
If you haven't got it - please don't flaunt it. TIA.
  • WITHIN REASON!?!? now that has made me laugh!! you gloat you had work when I was asking for advice on seeking JSA! or stating that I wasn't right the job when the fact is you have no idea!! Yes it is an open forum to HELP people with their situations! Can you explain how gloating about the fact you have work was helping me?

It seems that you have done nothing but scream and rant and shout since you first posted this thread. Nobody said that JSA rules are fair, just that they are the rules. Hell, life isn't fair, but there we go. It doesn't matter one bit whether you decided to work or not during your training - that choice was down to you. But you are where you are - and ranting at people who have genuinely given you advise, being determined to see it all as personal criticism levaled at you, is not getting you anywhere. I'm sorry that you haven't got a job yet, I'm sorry that the rules say your boyfriend earns too much to entitle you to JSA - and I am sorry that you are rude and nasty to people who genuinely tried to help you. If you want others to reconsider their attitude, perhaps you could try acting like a grown-up and not one of your would-be pupils?

Calm down dear; it's only an internet forum.
If you haven't got it - please don't flaunt it. TIA.

Yes, I am a troll. If that makes you feel sleep better at night. ;)

However, you both might like to just look at the top of the page to where it says 'This is an open forum - anyone can post'. That's the rub for you isn't it? People can post things that you don't agree with just as much as things you do agree with. If you can't cope with it; perhaps you should refrain from posting on an internet forum until you can.

It's not my fault that we have differing opinions about the way the world works; about working whilst studying, saving whilst working, about checking the way that JSA works before applying, about spelling and grammar....so if you ask the question then expect an array of responses.
If you haven't got it - please don't flaunt it. TIA.
