    Sheep = Iphone

Daughter has the HTC wildfire, I quite like it. Prefer my Nokia N97 mini though. Free SATNAV software,
when my sister paid £55 on her iphone. Not a huge amount of apps but its not crippled to death either.

Why would i want apps to make rude noises from my phone?

well i have not used android or an iphone, so i would have to get used to either really. are you saying that an iphone is easier to use?
part of me would like a htc as everyone i know has an iphone.

with a htc do you have to have something similar to itunes to sync etc.
how much is the new desire going to be please? and when is it available.

Andriod has 'doubletwist' which is an iTunes clone. It has a phone side app and a pc side app. It allows access to the Amazon MP3 marketplace (instead of the iTunes store) and also the Andriod marketplace. It does enough of what iTunes does to do the job and it is VERY small.

This might help to compare the IPhone 4, Desire HD and Desire Z....

Might need to re-order them though... (just drag the green, purple and red bars so that green is top and red is bottom) as you will see the Desire HD and Desire Z are bigger than the iPhone 4...

However the Desire HD and Z aren't out yet and when they are, they aren't big improvements over the Desire which will be lots cheaper...

My girlfriend has the Desire and loves it - she's a bit of a technophobe as well. I am insanely jealous and would have one like a shot.

Oh and the Desire and iPhone 4 size comparison is here:

I have no experience of iPhones but I'd never get another HTC again. Got the HTC Tattoo earlier this year and it's the worst phone I've ever owned; lousy camera, not great for texting, constantly thinks the SIM card isn't in so just cuts off mid call etc Ended up going back to my old Sony Ericsson with the HTC now sitting in a drawer.

I have the Tattoo and I'm perfectly happy with it. My husband has the Legend and also very happy with it. The phones were free and I pay £10/m, he pays £20/m for 300mins, unltd texts and internet. It seems crazy to pay so much more for an iphone when other phones do the same (if not better!) job.

I'd go for the samsung Galaxy S over the iPhone and HTC alternatives. A couple of the main reasons that really makes the phone stand out.

    • 4" Super AMOLED Screen - The screen is brilliant. Most smartphones have a screen with a touch screen sensitive layer over the top. What that means it your having to look through this layer to see your screen, making them not as bright or using a lot more power to achieve the same results. Another problem with these layers occurs when your out and about increasing glare significantly. The AMOLED display is 80% less reflective.
    • Super Fast 1GHz Processor & dedicated GPU - The key word here being dedicated GPU, not only does it have a 1 ghz processor but a dedicated graphics processing unit to assist it. Makes this a powerhouse of a phone.
    • Battery - Not only does it have a 1500mAh battery but because lasts so much longer due to the super efficient AMOLED display. According to samsung 13.5 hours of talk time.
    • HD Video Recording - don't think I need to go into detail here
    • Built in Memory - 8GB or 16GB + memory cards for additional 32 GB
    • Android Phone.
    Its not the cheapest though.

If you want bang for your buck in the "smartphone" sector go for the New Blackberry Curve 3G. You can pick them up reactively cheaply. Has the power, accessibility and navigation of the blackberry we have all come to enjoy and what gives this one the extra power supports the 3G network. That was the annoying thing with the old curve, but no more.

    cnet:
'The downside of all this power is the Galaxy S' weedy battery life and occasionally buggy software. But, for the pay-monthly price, we can forgive the plasticky case and incontinent battery -- and, once a software fix comes over the air, the Galaxy S could be a true smart-phone titan.'

I have read elsewhere as well that the software is an issue with the Galaxy. Have they updated or sorted this out?
Also battery is not that great according to reviews.
Dont know why this is underlined!
