HTC OR IPHONE 4 ???? help me decide
hi,
i am wanting a new smart phone but i dont know what to go for.
i like the iphone 4, but have also heard good reviews on htc. i dont want anything bigger in size than an iphone 4 as i hate bulky phones.
i need a half descent camera too.
i need to be able to send/receive my hotmail emails, web browsing etc.
descent choice of apps. "where do you get htc apps from??"
Any pros and cons would be appreciated.
can anyone make a suggestion please??

I think that if you are going for your first smartphone and know nothing about Android (the OS used by the HTC Desire, Wildfire & others) or how/where to get apps for Android phones, your best bet would be the iPhone 4 for its simplicity of operation.
Go in to your local mobile phone shop and have a play with the HTC Desire and the Iphone 4. I'm pretty sure you'll prefer the iPhone 4.In the beginning, the universe was created. This made a lot of people very angry and was widely regarded as a bad move. The late, great, Douglas Adams.0 -
For browsing and emails the HTC Desire is superb, but as Oscar has pointed out if you are not familiar with Android then you should go for ease of use and simplicity and get an iphone.
(still not been to the Genius bar with OH to their iphone 4 sorted/replaced)0 -

From the Android market place or any other Android sites as they dont have to go through Apple type verification process hence most are free .
I would do a bit of Googling the reviews on both phones TechRadar site etc .
i need to be able to send/receive my hotmail emails, web browsing etc. You can do all that on almost any Smartphone .
Top three in any order are Samsung Galaxy S IPhone 4 HTC Desire Samsung and HTC both about the same price IPhone about £200 more . HTC Desire new model due soon .
One better than the other not really at this level its very close and down to what the user wants what restrictions are in place and for some its bang for buck others its i want .

well i have not used android or an iphone, so i would have to get used to either really. are you saying that an iphone is easier to use?
part of me would like a htc as everyone i know has an iphone.
with a htc do you have to have something similar to itunes to sync etc.
how much is the new desire going to be please? and when is it available.0 -

Android phones are like Lego, you have freedom to do what you want.
Apple products are like jigsaws, pretty, but you get what you are given.
Lego or Jigsaws, which are you ?0 -
i dont know much about the android ones yet had ago on my husbands to me theyre as easy as each other
especially if u havent used any beforeWhat goes around-comes around0 -
Must admit with my Android based Samsung Galaxy S i9000 i fail to see what extras the IPhone 4 would have given me for the extra 200 notes .
You have its true to get used to any new phone but i cannot see how any phone can be easier to use than the HTC Desire .
New Android 2.2 update is going to make it even easier releasing now .

Sense on HTC desire is easy enough downloading and installing apps from Android is very very simple you can even make your own . Wi-Fi Simples .
Similar to ITunes dont know not a product i ever needed suppose Samsung Kies is their version though rumour has it that Google are getting involved with their own music app like ITunes .
Drag and drop is for me but MediaMonkey or aTunes or both good enough or better than ITunes and are FREE .
New HTC

My next phone will likely be the Desire HD when my contract comes up at the beginning of next year, personally I wouldn't touch an iPhone. The lego/jigsaw analogy is spot on above.0

many thanks for taking the time to reply.
which htc would you recommend as there are a few? wildfire looks ok but graphics apparently not great? legend looks a weird shape it curves/angles at the bottom. the hd mini gets mixed reviews so i wont go for that.
also i dont want anything bigger than an iphone in size - what do you think? are any others similar in size to the iphone?
i will get used to the htc im sure, ive just never had a smart phone before.0
