Android phones are like Lego, you have freedom to do what you want.
Apple products are like jigsaws, pretty, but you get what you are given.
Lego or Jigsaws, which are you ?
Definitely the best comparison i have heard! :T
Also look at cnet reviews0 -
My boyfriend has the HTC Wildfire and i think its really good, i am considering getting one also, but im not very clued up on mobiles and i have never used an IPhone0

The iphone is astoundingly simple to use, but then it is a closed system.
Android is open allowing you to tinker away to your hearts content.
If you have an Apple shop near you go and play with an iphone, then see if you can find someone to let you have a go with some of the Android phones.
My local o2 shop is good at this.0 -
I have no experience of iPhones but I'd never get another HTC again. Got the HTC Tattoo earlier this year and it's the worst phone I've ever owned; lousy camera, not great for texting, constantly thinks the SIM card isn't in so just cuts off mid call etc Ended up going back to my old Sony Ericsson with the HTC now sitting in a drawer.Debt: Started at £4780, now at £4190
Comp Wins 2014: None yet0 -
The tattoo is a very low-end phone for a set off, so the camera would doubtless be useless beyond close range pictures. I assume you couldn't be bothered to get the phone replaced as faulty?0

I was choosing between the iPhone 4 and HTC Desire earlier in the year. My instinct was for the iPhone but the reported reception problems and the difference in the price led me to the Desire. I am not very technical at all and have to say I'm absolutely converted to Android. I love it and can only see myself getting other Android platforms in the future.
It isn't complicated (unless you want it to be!) and apps are downloaded through the Android Marketplace (I use AppBrain which is a good app management app!).0 -
I use an iPhone4 for business and a Samsung Galaxy S (Android) for personal use.
The iPhone uses proprietary software and applications, therefore everything is tied to Apple.
The Galaxy S is a kind of Android 'clone' of the iPhone. There are numerous Android apps available (about 80% are free) and to be honest I don't think its any more difficult to use than an iPhone. I find both to be dead simple - unless you are a total technophobe Android will not give you any problems.
Overall I prefer the Android system. As it gathers pace and attracts more and more users it can only get better IMHO.0 -
many thanks for taking the time to reply.
which htc would you recommend as there are a few? wildfire looks ok but graphics apparently not great? legend looks a weird shape it curves/angles at the bottom. the hd mini gets mixed reviews so i wont go for that.
also i dont want anything bigger than an iphone in size - what do you think? are any others similar in size to the iphone?
i will get used to the htc im sure, ive just never had a smart phone before.
desire for sure
you may want to wait for the Desire HD if you like that iphone style0 -
is the desire a similar size to an iphone?0

I'm torn between the two myself but my wife has an android phone and the iphone seems to be streets ahead for the sort of apps I would use and I'm struggling to find decent android equivalents of things like Nano Studio and other music making software, despite extensively searching the market and appbrain. However I'm a bit of a geek so the rather closed nature of the iphone puts me off a bit, as does the lack of external memory card storage plus there's the obvious extra cost issue with the iphone and the fact I'd probably be tied into a 24 month contract. However I prefered the feel of the iphone in my hand when comparing the two together and using both side by side in the shop made me favour the iphone for ease of use.
I suspect in 12 months time the difference between available apps will be less of an issue but for the moment I'm leaning toward the iphone purely because there's a lot more interesting content available to keep me occupied.0
