Viewer wants to meet us, is this strange?

We've had our house on the market since April and are desperate to sell and relocate. We had a viewing earlier this week that the estate agent accompanied (it's the only viewing we've had in 2 months). When I spoke to the EA yesterday they said that the gentleman that viewed our house wanted to meet us and we've arranged for him to come over tomorrow.
I'm so desperate to get this house sold and am racking my brain wondering what he wants to meet us for...is there anything I need to be wary of? Clearly I don't want to come across as too desperate to sell but God, I want this so much!!
Maybe you gave out the wrong signals and he and the wife are swingers.0 -
This will be the opportunity to sell the house. Concentrate on the positive things - nice area, shops, schools, how happy you have been living there, and work means you have to move.
Don't lie - if he asks you a awkward question answer truthfully.0 -

I am sure EAs are happy to check who buys your house and then sue.0 -

Sounds normal to me. Someone living in a place knows how it works, and what the area's like, all the rest of it....much enquiry having been made concerning a gentleman, who had quitted a company where Johnson was, and no information being obtained; at last Johnson observed, that 'he did not care to speak ill of any man behind his back, but he believed the gentleman was an attorney'.0 -

I did our viewing myself. During viewings I got asked some normal ish questions but ones that an agent would probably struggle to answer, things like di you know what the best local school is, are we in the area for it, what are the neighbours like? I have a cat that is terrified of dogs, does any neighbours have a dog, is it on bus route for local Uni, whats the street like in the snow? How often is bin collection? Is there recycling? who does what week when cleaning stairs? No one has a sky dish, are they banned?
Just lots of random stuff an agent could find the answer too or tell you aload of poop but for some reason they seem to prefer to ask the vendor.MF aim 10th December 2020 :j:eek:MFW 2012 no86 OP 0/2000

...and fix the damn toilet, a new inlet valve assebly costs £20 max and can be changed by anyone capable of holding a spanner..Bankruptcy isn't the worst that can happen to you. The worst that can happen is your forced to live the rest of your life in abject poverty trying to repay the debts.0

I have met every viewer we have had when selling and met every owner we have bought from.
In Scotland, it is common to have open viewings, so many viewers can see a place at certain times. If they are arranged viewings, then you show them round. I have done the same when buying and selling in England as arranged viewings.
We have also negotiated the price directly with the owners except where we made bids.
The EA is a marketing tool to get your property advertised, once an interested viewer and owner get together, then it is better to deal direct imo. The solicitors do the legal bit.An average day in my life:hello: :mad: :coffee::coffee::coffee::T

I am no expert in property but have lived in many types of homes, in many locations and can only talk from experience.0 -
So how did the meeting go????????0

Thank-you to everyone for their advice, I'm pleased to say the second viewing went well and the guy wanted to ask a few questions just about what work we had done to the house, how old the boiler was etc.
The EA phoned us yesterday with an initial offer which we turned down and he came straight back to us with a second offer which we were pleased to accept!!! :j I am over the moon at the thought of finally being able to move and am looking forward to viewing some houses next week. Fingers crossed this sale goes through!!!!0 -
Congratualtions!
I met the people that were selling the house we recently bought. Its good to get an idea of the people you are dealing with and it reassured us that the work had been done to a good standard etc. and they had a lot more info than the EA had.
