Viewer wants to meet us, is this strange?

We've had our house on the market since April and are desperate to sell and relocate. We had a viewing earlier this week that the estate agent accompanied (it's the only viewing we've had in 2 months). When I spoke to the EA yesterday they said that the gentleman that viewed our house wanted to meet us and we've arranged for him to come over tomorrow.
I'm so desperate to get this house sold and am racking my brain wondering what he wants to meet us for...is there anything I need to be wary of? Clearly I don't want to come across as too desperate to sell but God, I want this so much!!

Maybe the EA wasn't that helpful and he has questions to ask you? Or maybe he wants to know why you are moving?
Or if you're thinking in a more underhand manner maybe he wants to meet you to try and cut out EA? He may think he can negotiate more off if he don't have to pay EA - of course the EA introduced him to you so this won't work....but...0 -
They may want to know what the area is like, what the neighbours are like, see the property at different times of day (what does an EA really know about your house after all). Could be that they don't like your EA.
I would see a second viewing as a step in the right direction, open the door with a smile
Inside this body lays one of a skinny woman
but I can usually shut her up with chocolate!
When I thank a post in a thread I've not posted in,
it means that I agree with that post and have nothing further to add.

He wants to find something out. It might be about the house or about how much you want to sell/can drop the price.0

There could be a million things a property owner knows about the house, street and neighbourhood which an EA wouldn't or even care about. I'd see this as a positive rather than a negative.0

Thanks for your ideas, I honestly can't stop thinking about what he wants and want to have every angle covered...today I'm cleaning like a maniac!!!
There are small flaws with the house, the seals on the double glazing are loose, the cistern on the toilet isn't great and unless you manually stop the water after you've flushed it you end up with it continuing to drip, then it goes down the overflow pipe and you end up with a puddle outside! The seals on the bath overflow are rusted and old so if you overfill the bath it drips onto the floor...really it needs a new bathroom...are these things I need to tell the viewer?
Also under the windowsill in the bedroom if it rains heavily and blows directly at the house water leaks in under the sill...this only happens 3 or 4 times a year and the paint has peeled off the wall a bit.
I don't want to put someone off buying but I don't want to be dishonest either.0 -

both those would take not very long and not very much to fix...0 -

We had a plumber round before and he didn't think the leak on the bath was fixable, he put some silicone stuff on but said it wouldn't last long and really it was time for a new bathroom!!0 -
Easier said than done, but I would say relax and don't be desperate to sell - think of it in terms of him being lucky to be buying your house (and he obviously does like it...) and just be honest about everything -- I'm much more inclined to trust someone who tells the truth about little things and I'm sure he will be too (though no need to detail them all for him if they don't arise!).0

You meet some strange people when house selling - I had buyers from hell - you couldn't make it up - they loved our house or so they said we found out later they also loved the other 5 properties they'd had offers accepted on - eventually they bought none and were blacklisted by several estate agents... caused us and others loads of grief and almost a £700 house survey - the surveyor was on the doorstep when our EA rang him to say my lovely buyers had pulled out for the 4th time.
The wife of the couple who eventually bought ours refused to believe we actually lived in our house because it wasn't full of knick knacks and clutter.
Anyway best of luck with yours!0 -
Personally, I would always prefer to be shown around a house by the owner/s, I find EA's far too pushy and they rarely know enough about the place to give you sensible answers! and I've always shown viewers around my own place, I can tell them far more than my EA would be able to.0
