Life after bankruptcy?

• Also mate,
I hope you don`t mind me saying but:
I think you`re MENTALLY EXHAUSTED,PHYSICALLY DRAINED and DEPRESSED.
Just like I was going through all that.
I really think you should go see your doctor and tell him so he can give you something to help with your frame of mind and overall condition.
There`s no shame in it,half the bloody countries on medication!
I think it`s stopping you working, making decisions and summoning the energy to get things done.
Also it makes the council prioritise you more.
I think your mindset is "I`ve done all I can and I`ve had it".Hence the diary.
Well maybe you did all you could in the wrong frame of mind when you could massively improve your chances if you`re in the right one.

Post your diary on here if you like, it might help you.

Hi NH....yes pop your diary/link on this thread as lili says...sounds like you have had it tough & will help folks reading this to understand the bigger picture I think.

I must say that I did go to the GP when all this started happening to me & it helped so much. In fact it was the GP who referred me to Welfare Rights for help as I was struggling to fill forms & when you are under this kind of pressure stuff is so hard to understand.

As Amnesty says if you are suffering with a bit of depression (& thats not surprising after all you have been through)...then the court will understand & Welfare Rights might even represent you.....as they did for me.

Maybe you're right, but i know i've done everything i can to rehouse myself, whatever the frame of mind i'm in. I've still managed up until now, to go out and put ' that face ' on, be pleasant to joe bloggs, when needs be, however i'm feeling, inside, because thats my job. I've seen my gp,and they know exactly everything i've been through, but they seem to respect how i'm trying to cope with it. Maybe i'm old fashioned, but i still think i've got a clearer mind this way. I've got a sick note, for all the good its going to do me.

I'll have a look for the local welfare office, or whatever, now, but i'ts pretty short notice. But i had a look on the internet yesterday, and it says you're not allowed to take anyone in with you, anyway, so i don't think it will make much difference.

I have at least had a reasonable day throwing things out, but its going to take me more than 2 weeks.

Heres the link to my diary

• Hiya....well I`m glad I read your diary....I understand now why you may feel there is little hope but I stand by what I said....you clearly are a fighter ( & thats nothing to do with strength)sometimes its as simple as just waking up & getting out of bed in the morning.

Make sure you tell the judge what you have been through. Yes you can take someone to court with you....of course you can. I took my sister to her repo hearing & I represented her as she was so upset ....the judge was very sympathetic & understanding & even marked her form as not having made herself `intentionally homeless` (so she could get council housing) & that was due to illness & gave her more than 4 weeks to vacate.

Please get that medical stuff sorted...you really mustn`t miss biopsy`s & once you get the next few months sorted you may actually find that life will improve again.

Thanks for your post ssa.

The medical stuff. My gp must have said 6 times in one conversation last week, i must go back next month. But in my mind, its of no importance, because its a juggling act between how much emotional stuff you can take, if that makes any sense. I suppose its my own fault i dragged it out for 6 months last time, but i can't cope with going through all that again right now, what if the tests come back ' bad' again? None of it matters anyway, until this is sorted out.

Thats what i'm worried about tomorrow. I know i'm going to end up crying through the whole interview. How do you stop yourself from doing that? I've got to pull myself together to get through tomorrow. One day at a time.

I'm going to contact welfare rights and CAP today, like you suggested, even though i'm torn between spending the day, ' chucking out '. Its got to be done, however i'm feeling.

• Hi Nohope,

Once the dust has settled you'll be in a better place and won't feel like a no hope any longer. This forum is a source of great information and feeling as you have experienced.

Hopefully you are feeling a little better today, so I was going to suggest you ring the OR and ask them why they have frozen the Nat Ins Cont.?

I've been trying to look through the IS tech manual but I can't find anything.

Also hopefully one of the other can answer this. If you go to court and the house is repo'd do you not sign a deed of acknowledgement? Or are the rules different between a vol repo & repo?

OP is in court in a few days so I was just wondering if the rules on the shortfall are the same?

Thankyou all xx I'm sorry i'm unable to input very little to others at the moment, but i do know how others are feeling, and even if its only a hug i can give, its something.

So, i've done all i can again, for now. I've spoken to WRO. They are only open from 11.00 - 4.00, and i'm waiting for someone to get back to me. They said it would be within 48 hours, but given the urgency of my situation, they would see what they could do. So i'll have to hope they get back to me within 5 hours. Thats the time limit.

I've checked with CAP. Theres no CAP centre covering my area, but i could have guessed that anyway. I can download a self help pack, or use the other agencies i've already been using, ( my advisor was'nt available tomorrow ).

So its back to chucking out, for now.

I don't know anything about a deed of acknowledgement. The welfare rights office did ring me yesterday. They said the solicitors will push for 14 days eviction, but i've got to stand my ground for 28 days. I was just going to leave loads of my possesions in the house, but they say they they will charge me for storage, so thats my main problem at the moment, emptying the house, along with the fact, do i or don't i put my furniture in store, which will cost a fortune i don't have.

The wro said the council has a duty to make sure no one is homeless, so i've got to go with my eviction notice,to the council, straight afterwards. CAP does'nt cover my area. I seem to be in a ' no go zone ' in the middle of several areas.

Firstly chin up and fight on, you are with friends on this forum all here to lend an ear.........We all have to learn to live with our situation but many people have come back to fight on and rebuild a life out of the rubble left behind. The house debt should be taken care of in BR but PLEASE get your little self down to the local HA or council as they have a duty to help you find a roof over your head after all as you say you have paid your taxes all these years. Life seems hard at times but I have a little thing in life that keeps me going, it is as follows:

Don’t Quit

When things go wrong, as they sometimes will,
When the road you’re trudging seems uphill,
When funds are low, and debts are high,
And you want to smile, but you have to sigh,
When care is pressing you down a bit,
Rest, if you must, but don’t you quit,
Life is queer with its twists and turns,
As everyone of us sometimes learns,
And many a failure turns about,
When he might have won had he stuck it out,
Don’t give up though the pace is slow,
You may succeed with another blow,
Success is failure turned inside out,
The silver tint of the clouds of doubt,
And you never can tell how close you are,
It may be near when it seems so far,
So stick to the fight when you’re hardest hit,
It’s when things seem worst that you must not quit.

Also write down on a bit of paper all that is troubling you, what you can change change what you can't leave to the gods, fairies pixies or the devil don't waste on second worrying about things that are out of your hands. We rent our property via an agent, they said they had no issues with our situation so long as we paid the rent and bills, so go and ask the question you will only get 2 answers yes or no. Also go to CAB as you may get help from the social (others do) try and keep your chin up and look at all the good you have in your life like health and a chance to start again........Look at Alan Sugar things were really bad for him BR a few times..............I look up to him and think if he can do it so can I xx OK so we may not have money or a credit card (never want one ever again) or own a house but who cares so long as you got you that is all that matters, you do deserve a life and no you are not a second class person you are you :j only one of you and as my grandmother used to say nobody will look after you better then you:T
If you woke up this morning congratulations, you have another chance :j
