I think it has purpose. I don't know what the intention of people but from user/member point of view, it is helpful to know where this person I'm receiving an advice coming from. Even if it is only suspected and still under the process of diagnosis. Especially I am undiagnosed too so in a way I feel like we are in a same class year rather than a person who have already graduated (went through the whole process and dx) who could possible have much more knowledge depending on how long that person has been on this journey. It's all about sharing. After all, we want to know what the other person is interested in (e.g. cooking, DIY etc), type of music they are into or even sexual preference
If you interpret as "Oh poor thing=manupilative" and the person is seeking a violin, that's your interpretation. I don't get that feeling from the particular community and they are helpful to each other and being pro-active towards ones health or family member's health.Money is not the root of all evil.
It depends on how you obtain it and how you use it.

Why do you 'want' to have these illnesses and list them as signatures........especially when you have not even been disagnosed!!??
Hypercondria at its best!!
Nasty, ignorant and uncalled for. Who are you and what do you know? And you can't spell hypochondria.

What I dont understand and was asking about was why someone would list ailments that they do not have.....what is the purpose of doing that?
People reading see that that poster has x condition, y condition and suffers from z.........but in reality the poster has none of those an d might jjust have a mild form of w.
On reading that kind of signature people are likely to think "Oh poor thing" or "She has such a lot to deal with"........is that a fair way to be with people, manipulate how they think?
I wonder what the motivation is.
How the F do you know?
You're talking out of your bum.
What's your motivation in sticking your oar in like this? Hmm?0 -
Not really. If you read the thread you will see that she said she has not been diagnosed with most of them and has self- diagnosed.prettypeach wrote: »How the F do you know?

As said before to the other poster.....I am curious and do not understand so asked about it, whereas you just come across as nasty and rude, deliberatly attacking me just for the hell of it.
My motivation (as I have previously stated in this thread) is that I do not understand and would very much like to as I cannot for the life of me figure out why anyone would state they had a disease or ailment when they have been told by a doctor that they havent.
There is nothing wrong in wanting to understand.
There is a lot wrong, however, with your response and to comment on spelling and grammar is just petty. You know nothing of my circumstnaces.0 -
You can't always trust the tests. Just because they come back negative it doesn't mean you don't have it. I know that sounds demented but that seems to be the experience of so many people I've spoken to.
GPs have had a marked reluctance to refer people for anything for the past year or two because of the way that funding is arranged these days.
I know people who needed a double hip replacement who were never referred because they were still managing to get about somehow.
I know people who needed hearing aids who were never referred because they wouldn't argue with or put any pressure on their GP and just meekly accepted being fobbed off.
I know people who had stage three bowel cancer and had lost a third of their body weight but were never referred to an oncologist because the test came back negative. (12 weeks before dozens of small tumours and one the size of your fist were removed after they collapsed.)
One of these people almost died and some of the others attempted suicide so I have nothing but sympathy for you OP and I deplore the posters whose unpleasant attitude would have been a roaring success in the gestapo.0 -

Are you for real?
Can you really not see how rude you have been??
I think you are rather twisting things that the poster has said and there really was no need to lecture her/deride her/call her a hypochondriac. Why do all that and then act innocent as you are in the above post?
And FYI, I only criticise people's spelling and grammar when they've been nasty in the first place and need taking down a peg or two.
And well said CatValou!0
