This nationwide campaign will see the public turning up in their thousands to exchange their other beans for a tin of Heinz Baked Beanz, as they are without a doubt Britain’s Original and Best loved beans."
Sounds to me as though they will swap your 20 tins of Netto`s best for 1 can of Heinz`s
I share your reservations about this, surprised no-one else has commented. Probably isn't worth deliberately buying loads of cheap beans, in case you are right. Especially now that this has appeared on Martin's email (with its wide circulation), Heinz may take steps to avoid people "abusing" the offer.0 -

I've really went off Heinz beans recently. I also found them watery and just thought it was my imagination. Branston beans are much nicer.0 -

Even still, I can't imagine Silihillians wanting to take part in such a vulgar publicity stunt so Heinz's idea to host the event at Touchwood and not the Bullring/Pallasades/Pavillions (poss to avoid a central Bham boycott or demonstration?) will end up flopping anyway.
I hope.0 -
Netto beans rule OK!0

As you say it will be a great waste if they just dump and throw them all away. Indeed it would give them some really bad publicity if they actually did that. But, I also think the publicity could be not too good if they give away second hand beans to a charity. I wonder if they've made a bit of a mess up with this offer. I think they could end up with some kind of bad publicity what ever they do with these other tins of beans! Now if they felt generous enough to give as way some of their own tins that might be better publicity0 -
How much would you spend on petrol and parking in a city centre, just to get a bargain tin of beans?:rolleyes:0

Reality sets in Bexsys64 - isn't it a good idea to discuss stuff like this, and then we realise that a bargain is not necessarily so!!!!!!!!!!0

This makes me very very sad.
How can they say they will "recycle" the beans which means they will just be dumped or given to pigs to feed on that were just perfect for human consumption.
They should just have given out their little half sized cans for free.
BTW maybe that is what they are giving away. Their small half sized cans for your large cheapo cans of beans. There is no way that they will exchange 1 to 1. I am sure going by the text they are going to take all your cans and just give you one or two. And they will say that it is to give everyone a chance of getting some.
The only message to give to them is to not to show up.
There are no savings to be made. Its a total con. I would not waste my fuel, parking costs, or public transport costs to go there to exchange a couple of tins.
There are people right here in the UK starving and they waste food like that!!!
I am now going to try all the different brands out there to see which one tastes nearly like Heinzes. And then will only buy those from then on.
Grrrrrr........ :mad:0
