Looking forward to seeing the TV cabinet/fabric cupboard transformation Shirl.
Kandi! Glad to see you are still about x
Hart - glad to hear your hand is getting better, bet you are itching to get back to sewing.
I hope the warmer weather is going to stick around now, I always feel much more productive outside of Winter.0 -

This is a such a fantastic thread it has encouraged me to paint our pined stained bed to match the Laura Ashley Clifton bedroom furniture we have.
However, I cannot find a good colour match with Clifton. I took a Clifton drawer unit to Brewers for a match (Crowne machine I think), it indicated an excellant match and I applied two coats - the results are OK but disappointing.
Laura Ashley seems quite popular on here so I wondered if anybody had found a good colour match with an off the shelf paint for Clifton?0 -

I wanted to replicate the Laura Ashley Bramley range with paint, I went into the LA store and was trying to pick a colour. A sales assistant asked me if I needed any help and I told her what I was up to - she couldn't have been more helpful and recommended the perfect shade that I am delighted with.0 -
Hi
I probably should have started a new thread but here goes....
I have access to good solid wooden wine boxes and some vintage eastern european wooden crates -could I make some alternative kitchen shelving with these that looks 'chic-er' than the really naff and badly made melamine tyoe cupboards I currently have in my Victoian cottage - any ideas or opinions (ie this would look even naffer than what I've already got)- kitchen is small and rather dark and gloomy - also cold 3 different types of ceramic tiles - wall/floor/worktop - worktop is rapidly cracking and disintegrating before my eyes .. need chic ideas rather than blokey diy ones please.
Years ago there was a little series called low tech; the guy made cupboards from wooden wine boxs, a bed from pallets and carpet roll inners etc etc.
Think that your idea of using crates is really great - you should definitely go for it
Google shelves from wooden crates and get lots of ideas, for instance:

Hello all!
I've read through this thread with total fascination. I'm hooked!
I'd love to 'shabby' up my non-cool shabby bedroom. I've got hideous 'pax' wardrobes from ikea currently - in 'antique' colour or something similar. 2 have solid doors, 1 has mirrored doors.
I've also got a dresser (leksvik or something?) and 2 bedside tables in a similar style. Oh and a regular wooden bedstead.
So, is it possible to revamp this to a decent standard? Any special paint needed (I assume they aren't pine) and has anyone converted this modernish style in to shabby chic before?0 -
my duvet has arrived and its gorgeous = if anybody wants any - the camberley store had some more in stock and such a fab price - their service is fantastic I only rang and ordered it yesterday and SHeridan themselves well I am just blown away with the fab customer service0

I'm trying to find some really nice plant pots atm but everything is either really expensive or not very nice. Anyone painted or decorated plant pots? I'd love to see your pics0

I have a stereo upright unit that I bought at vast expense about 25 years ago- eeek!- I was going to get rid of it but am now thinking that if i paint it it will be much better. Its currently very dark mahogony-french polished. Can this finish be treated in the exact same way as others-ie sand, prime paint?0

Kevie192, don't know what size you want but I bought some plain white straight sided ones in B&Q yesterday which I'm planning to decorate; they had 3 sizes, the largest was about 6" which cost 3.60 I think. I bought some pots of narcissus too, really cheered me up to have flowers in the house again
I'm missing having a garden or outdoor space so from this Spring I'm decorating for the seasons; I'll decorate the plant pots with ribbons etc rather than painting, so they'll be re-usable all year, I don't have a lot of storage space for extras like this so everything must earn its keep
I have the makings of an easter tree, a beautiful easter pic which I'll print off and put in my 'seasons' frame to hang in the hallway, and I've found out my lacy blue cake stand which I'll fill with small coloured eggs
Whilst in B&Q I bought the melamine primer and paint etc so watch out for pics of my bedside cabinet revamp... don't throw the string away. You always need string!
