Hi everyone,
TV cabinet is starting to look the business, has now had 2 coats of F&B and awaiting sanding down the top next weekend and applying Danish Oil. I also plan to line the bottom of each shelf with some lovely Laura Ashley wallpaper I have to give it an extra touch. Plus there are some heart shaped clear cupboard knobs I have spied on ebay that I think will finish it off nicely. Around £8 for both but considering we were going to give the unit to charity and try to find another one in the next few months, this is a far more MSE approach...
Now, to find furniture at bootfairs and be able to see past it's condition and it looking nice in the nursery, that's the next plan once weather improves!
Hope everyone has had a lovely Sunday...MFW #185

I still haven't even primed my dresser that i've had for about 5 weeks. So as I am not going anywhere in a bid to not spend any money I must must must do it this week! Also won a mirror on ebay which is the size and style i want but not colour so will be doing that at the same time. I have no excuse really but could come up with a 100 i am sure! Got minimum work this week so this will be my job! Congrats on your baby news EL. How lovely. I have 3 friends that are PG right now so will be able to get my baby fixes from them soon! I am so over all that lol! It was £8.98 a roll and it only took 2 rolls to do that wall which was lucky (and cheap). Linky >> http://www.diy.com/diy/jsp/bq/nav.jsp?isSearch=true&fh_search=arthouse+mia+mulberry
Hope this helps
The picture hasn't done it justice really, it looks a lot darker than it really is. Also the flowers are kind of irridescent so reflect the light back into the room. We love it. I can't stop smiling at it. My neighbour was laughing at me earlier because she wanted to see it and I kept smiling at it :rotfl:.Debt: 16/04/2007:TOTAL DEBT [strike]£92727.75[/strike] £49395.47:eek:   £43332.28 repaid 100.77% of £43000 target.MFiT T2: Debt [STRIKE]£52856.59[/STRIKE] £6316.14 £46540.45 repaid 101.17% of £46000 target.2013 Target: completely clear my [STRIKE]£6316.14[/STRIKE] £0 mortgage debt. £6316.14 100% repaid.0 -
Hello ladies!
Having often lurked and admired your amazing makeovers, please may I pop in and pick your collective brains!
I have been looking for a standard lamp for ages and yesterday picked up a wooden one on freegle :j.
It is a similar colour wood to this with a slightly more orange tone to the wood.
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Vintage-Traditional-Wood-Standard-Lamp-working-order-/150566895709?pt=UK_HomeGarden_Lighting_Lamps_Lighting_SM&hash=item230e7c805d
It's vintage, not an antique and is a nice curvy shape with a wide base. I need to lighten the colour however to fit in with my decor.I like the room to be light and airy and is fairly contemporary. It will be having an oyster coloured silk drum shade, which I've found on ebay.
Any suggestions? I would prefer to keep the natural wood look rather than paint it, but the existing wood in the room is similar to this,
http://www.next.co.uk/shopping/homeware/livingroomfurniture/36/1?extra=sch&n=homeware&pid=706-977&returnurl=%2fshop%2ffinish%2doak%2dcategory%2dcabinets%2dproductaffiliation%2dfurniture%2d0%3fx%3d1%26nxti%3d0%26nxtv%3d0%23706%2d977&bct=%26quot%3bShop%20By%20Product%26quot%3b%26nbsp%3b%26gt%3b%26nbsp%3bOak%26nbsp%3b%26gt%3b%26nbsp%3bCabinets%26nbsp%3b%26gt%3b%26nbsp%3bFurniture
so don't know if it will be possible to achieve something that will tone in and haven't a clue which products to use. I definitely don't want to leave it dark.
If I painted it, which would be the best type of paint?
Thanks for any ideas!

I've not poked my head into the SC board for ages, since I found out I was pregnant with a high risk pregnancy. I still love everything SC but had to give up on painting things lol.
I don't know if it's of any interest to people but I was in Ikea Lakeside the other day and they had the Cath Kidston Rosali duvet covers back in stock in white and blue :j. I missed out last time so had to get one!
I'm sure there was once a thread about it on here but I can't find it.0
