    I've been Money Tipped!
welll... I'm inspired now after reading all your posts:beer:

I have a bookcase that I'm going to paint and cover some boxes and magazine files to go on it for all my paperwork to go in.

I have a couple of questions though:

    • What paper is best to cover the boxes & files with?
    • What glue should I use or is Wall paper paste best?
    • What do I do about the edges on the items - when I've tried this before its always looked messy because of this.
    • For th book case how do you get the paint the bit near the floor without it sticking to the paper or getting paint everywhere!
    Thanks in advance:)

Stand it on something - paint tins/storage boxes - anything that's sturdy that's smaller than the bookcase base itself.

I treated myself to this range of bedding today - it's gorgeous - really lovely quality....there's a slight hint of duck egg blue in it too so I thought I'd get one of these for contrast.....big mistake, the fabric is thin and almost see through, I'm really shocked at the quality....it will be going back tomorrow.

I think some others on here have been looking at the Argoose one - so just to let you know - don't waste your money!
I saw that bedding when I was in Dunhelm Mill yesterday - it is so pretty - thought it was Dorma - was surprised when it was their own make - really pretty

My Mum and Aunt are both heavily into minatures (I dabbled for a while but it's all out of my price range) - My Mum knits minature clothes - her latest was a christening dress with shawl, booties, hat and matching knickers....she knitted a corset too - so much patience. My Aunt has had loads of her stuff featured in minatures mags, she does a lot of minature leather work and makes dolls too. Some of the stuff is amazing and I could easily go back down that route if it wasn't quite so pricey.

    Hi all,
I don't know anything about miniatures I'm afraid!
Ordered my 2 x heart shaped handles for our tv unit, looking forward to finishing the unit this coming weekend. Just needs doors putting back on with new handles, and top sanding then poloshing with Danish oil.
    Hope everyone is well x

Just a question - is anyone here into making (dolls house) miniatures? something I'm just getting into; I've found several useful blogs - there's some really amazing stuff being done out there ;)

I love dollshouse miniatures, it was my main hobby for a decade but last few years moved away from it a bit for various reasons but now started to re organize change around the houses I've got. I'm doing one up in shabby chic style with a roses theme and another up in a mixture of shabby chic / folkart prim with a autumn theme. As cash is now short and I can no longer get to the fairs most of my new things will either have to be made or re purposed from what I've got. There are some fantastic blogs and makers out there, what style are you thinking of doing your mini house rosieben?

shabby chic of course :D shortage of space means I'll probably do room boxes rather than a big house, so first off is a shabby kitchen, all pinks and blues and polka dot and roses :happyhear

I'll be making most of my things as I can't get to fairs etc although I've bought a few bits from ebay, most online shops are too pricey for me

I quite fancied doing Granny Weatherwax' cottage too, from Terry Pratchett's Discworld novels and another idea is a beach house as I love all things nautical and then I saw a fisherman's cottage, and a tool shed like my dad's and .... :D

I'd love to see some photos of your house Mrs Bones

I've just ordered a mag for inspiration :D There's some really awesome stuff out there and so much I would love to try but I don't think I will ever have the patience for miniature knitting

This time tomorrow I will be on my way to pick up the dresser I have recently purchased. To say I'm like a kid in a candy shop is an understatement! My dining room has been "prepped" ready for my arrival...I just want it and I want it NOW! :rotfl:
