Great mindsI'm decorating one wall in Cath Kidston rose wallpaper and thought it would look fab up there, but it's too big! The mirror measures 52" across  and my hallway is sort of hexagon shaped with lots of small, wonky walls. I'm sure I'll find somewhere for it though

ive got a writing desk that i am going to paint i have taken off the metal handles they are a kind of pewter metal colour i am thinking of silver
what spray paint do you suggest, is any make better than an another
i am thinking farrow and ball white for the desk but ive not seen it in the shops i thought i had seen it in b&q but last time i looked i couldnt see it.
do you buy it on line or is it available in only certain shops thanks
F & B is sold in Homebase. Also worth trying ebay if you want an odd can, there are often good deals that are cheaper than full retail price, even when p & p is factored in.
I would hold off spraying the handles until you have painted the desk. F & B has such a rich lovely texture that old handles often look better than modern and pewter sounds lovely. Also, spraying handles is a bit hit and miss. They get such a lot of wear and tear that they are prone to chip... I learned this the hard way....0 -
Hello, I’m wanting some advice from you experienced DIYers!
I have been on freecycle and come across a really lovely sideboard with mirror. I’ve messaged the offerer and am hoping (fingers crossed!) that it hasn’t been taken yet. It was only posted up on Saturday so I may be in luck.
It’s quite large (128x55x160) and I don’t have room in the flat to have it inside for the time being. We’d be able to make room for it as a piece of furniture, but not as a ‘project’. I think i’m going to have to start it off outside, and then bring it inside once the sanding etc is done to paint it.
Obviously the weather is changeable but I thought if I got some tarpaulins etc, think I have some old camping groundsheets too, I could probably protect it enough. We have had 2 sofas in the back yard for the past 2 months and they are still in one piece! Do you think this is doable? It looks like very heavy hardwearing wood so I think it could probably withstand the colds to be honest if I can keep the most of the rain away. I really don’t want to miss out on it, especially since it would be free.
I’d post you a picture but I don’t have enough posts yet. I’ll post one as soon as I can.

If outside I'd definitely try to put the sideboard up on blocks or a pallet also covered in plasticor something so that the legs don't touch the ground and get water or damp travelling up the wood. Just plastic on the ground itself wouldn't work because water could get onto it.0

Yeah, that was my worry really. We have some bricks in the yard that I can use to raise it up, will have a look round and see if I can find anything better too.
If the weather seems too bad I might be able to persuade my boyfriend to let me put it in the spare room for the time being. He thinks i’m stupid to even think about doing it but i’m itching to get going on something!0 -

ok next question i want to do it white, ive just had a quick look on the f&b website and that seems to be called 'all white'
is that correct and what paint finish do you all suggest please is it just full gloss or estate eggshell0 -
i painted my daughters wardrobe and draws recently for her new room in our new house and i used the Kevin McCloud paint as i havent fone this type of thing before.
but since reading this thread on her F & B is mentioned all the time.
so my question is, is it worth paying more and buying the F & B paint or do people use other makes to paint interior wood furniture.0
