hmo, I always use estate eggshell as I love the sheen finish. I am a huge F&B fan as I find the paint a great texture to work with and lots of lovely colours that fit well with my style, but if you find another paint you like then then there's no reason not to stick with it. I've just painted my kitchen island in a B&Q own brand and find the colour and finish perfect. I'll search out a pic as it's my latest shabby chic project!0

Does anyone know how to make a rag rug?"The purpose of Life is to spread and create Happiness" :j0

There are various types (some have the ends sticking up rather than the loops) but these are instructions for the sort where the good side is composed of lots of little loops

I always sand, otherwise the paint doesn't key (stick!) properly. Depending on the wood, it's usually just a rough going over though.
Well here's the unit in the state we got it from Freegle...
And here it is after a little work as our new kitchen island. It still needs shelves adding in the giant gap, but it's pretty (painted it chalky swedish blue) and functional (hides the microwave and displays my cook books!)...
Still lots more work to do on the kitchen, as you can see, but Mr Bibbitybob finally put my light fitting and curtain rail up yesterday. We're going to look at tiles tomorrow, although I think I know what I'm after it's just a case of getting the right price!0 -
bibbitybob i love your kitchen x:xmastree:Is loving life right now,yes I am a soppy fool who believes in the simple things in life :xmastree:0

Who knew such an ugly item could look so lovely with a bit of trimming? That island is really good bibbity. How are you powering the microwave? (I like to know these things for future reference!)
I reckon you'll find that your most used area, it is flooded with light from the doors and will be a great place for food prep.Debt: 16/04/2007:TOTAL DEBT [strike]£92727.75[/strike] £49395.47:eek:   £43332.28 repaid 100.77% of £43000 target.MFiT T2: Debt [STRIKE]£52856.59[/STRIKE] £6316.14 £46540.45 repaid 101.17% of £46000 target.2013 Target: completely clear my [STRIKE]£6316.14[/STRIKE] £0 mortgage debt. £6316.14 100% repaid.0 -
