I have just tried to paint an sideboard (a modern veneered one). I did sandpaper it and use the cupboard paint and two coats, but I tried to put the doors back on and loads of paint peeled off (and I can't get the doors on!)

    any help?

Have you looked on your local freegle/freecycle for chairs? Depending on the style of table you've got you could always paint them to match. What's your table like?

    Hi

my table is oval with a central pedestal !! not very good at describing. was gonna paint the pedestal in dimity & wax the top of the table !!!

Bibbitybob thanks for your help ;) much appreciated ! love your blog ;)

I only used one can and it was white before. I am in the process of doing up another one (post #595) I will probably need two cans for this (maybe even three). I bought if from Wilkinson and I think it cost around £5.

Post a pic when you done ;)

You are right those walls give me sleepless nights :rotfl::rotfl:

I am looking for a mirror on eBay, DD wants a nice oval one, do you think that will suit it?

Oh Bebs..........I was joking! I sometimes forget that it doesnt come across in posts hope I didnt offend.
An oval mirror should be lovely, have you tried your local charity shops or furniture recyclers. The one in my town often have mirrors for sale.

Hi guys I am new to this thread. Just re-doing the bathroom and in need of a wall-hung towel storage rack. Am thinking maybe cream metal / wire with fancy scrolls / flowers or something. I googled shabby chic towel rack and loads came up in the images but most of them were in the USA.
The only one I can find is on ebay but there are so many nicer ones on the google-images.

So please can anyone of you nice people point me in the right direction
    Thanks
    Lisa

Been trying to think what might have gone wrong.
Did you prime or undercoat before painting, and what sort of paint is cupboard paint?

It certainly sounds as though whatever paint you used couldn't get a grip on your sideboard, which is very puzzling as you sandpapered it.

I can only think that you missed a bit of sanding, or didn't use any sort of primer or undercoat before using a gloss or satinwood topcoat

I think that we probably need a few more details to make a more accurate guess
