Ok, so the dressing table is finished! Had a horrible time with the first lot of paint, ended up sanding it down and starting again with a slightly darker colour. The knobs are lovely, worth every penny (£8 each)!
    Here's hoping these photos work!

I will try that on my next project as I ended up with visible brush strokes and I waxed it with Lavender funiture polish which gave it a pinky hue, so next time I think I will coat it with satin varnish.

Thanks for this. I had a tin of lavender polish I was going to use on my next make so you have saved me from a disaster!!

What wax do you his usually use? Anything I can get on the high street?

this is a 'how to' method for Annie Sloan wax from a blog:

    https://www.thepurplepaintedlady.com/how-to-and-past-workshops/

I think that the method helps to define the sorts of wax that are suitable.

Other brands include Authentico, Briwax, Fides & Sons, Minwax, and Johnson’s Paste wax

love the colour, 1001, what is it please?

It is from the H0mebase Sanctuary collection and the colour is Celadon. Much darker than I originally wanted but turned out ok in the end.

Painted a pair of bedside cabinets yesterday...

    photo_2.jpg

I used the 'Chalk 2 Chic' powder in 'White Dune' mixed in with Johnson's Country Cream Matt Emulsion from The Range. Really happy with the paint... Stuck well and covered in 3 coats. I used 'Lord Sheraton Caretaker' wax from Sainsburys and am kinda happy with that but as you can see is a little streaky this morning. I'm hoping that will go away with time and a little buff every now and then...

Also thinking they look a little 'plain'. Thinking of taking off the handles and decoupaging them or perhaps replacing with something a bit more funky. Any opinions?

For anyone who is interested, I took a pic of the instructions for the Chalk 2 Chic for you!

try adding a vase , lamp or some books to the top, and a dangley thing ( heart?) from the handles. It looks very nice as it is though.

    - I wish my cabinets were done - they are the worst furniture in my house.
I was gifted one of these and have started to paint it. I messed up on my home made CP - I think the water was way too hot, or it might be because I used "flex" paint, but I got loads of lumps of P of P. It was dark and late and I didn't really notice. Had to sandpaper it today to get it back to a normal finish ready for more paint later.

Thank you-have given it one undercoat this morning.

In all the years I've been a member of this site I have never posted a photo-or knew how to!! I'm not very technical at all-in fact that is an understatement, I am a techno phobic!

Has this turned out? I can't get the photo the right way, maybe that's the next thing to learn?

    xxx

Don't know if I've done this right? Really not good at technical stuff.

Eventually nearly finished the rocker, not sitting on it at the movement I just need to buy some mat varnish to make the finish more durable.
