this might be a tiny glimpse in the corner of it???0

I picked up my retro kitchen unit last night and it does need some tlc but I absolutely love it already! I have been unable to photograph it as we had to put it straight in the garage due to the pouring rain but I have attached a link which shows one very similar.
The differences are, mine doesn't have any drawers and in the decorative cut outs at the top there is nothing so I might get something like chicken wire (but smaller grade) and put that it.
Everything else is original, the pull down enamel cutting board is still working fine and it has cream bakerlite handles which look to be original :-)

Any ideas on how to renovate this item will be greatfully received as this is the first thing I will have done :-)0 -

if that gap is as small as it looks i would try to use bath trim (not tile trim).
would be better to see another picture with a tape measure laid out showing how big the gap is if possible.
i dont know if they still do it this way now but different trim companies used to make the colours too suit certain brands of baths but there are so many now i doubt they bother.0 -
Chap has fixed the bath problem - thanks for the advice - looks good now.Decluttering Achieved - 2023 - 10,364 Decluttering - 2024 - 8,365 August - 0/45

I love that kitchen unit and although I paint everything, I'd be tempted to leave that original!
And Steve is going to be busy with all our tiling issues!0 -
Hi, long time lurker, but I finally have my 1st piece to shabby up!
Its a pine dresser top I got from ebay for £20, I want it to be cream so whats the best way to go about this?
Sand, prime, paint, wax? Can anyone suggest any products too as I don't want to waste money on getting the wrong thing!
Thanks in advance! Kate0 -

Hi I'm pretty new to all this painting myself and I know lots on here use chalk paint but with my dresser we took it completely apart, sanded it and used a satin wood paint on some parts. The bits we wanted to keep 'wood' we stained them then waxed. It was hard work but definitely worth it. Hope this helps.0 -
For anyone who likes to use satin wood paint on their pieces Wilkos has about 5 colours which have been reduced to £3 a tin0
