i picked these up on ebay for £3 each.
just wondering if anyone has any ideas of how too change the red leather, i did have a quick web search and seems it can be done with solvents etc etc but it would seem an expensive route and really its just a mini play project and not a full restoration.
i used the this http://www.baycrazy.com/ it is handy for local searches, i wouldnt really have gone for these as the red wont work for us but there ok to practice on and maybe they will turn into something much better looking.

Could you stain the leather if you don't like the colour?

    thanks seakay,
what type of stain could i use?.
i had i quick look at chalkysoils earlier link and linked some more to some french transfer methods.
maybe i could paint the leather and do some that.
very time consuming i would imagine but very satisfying.

    Lurker here

Leather dye would do the trick. Try fiebings or Eco flo. You can get these from the identity store

    http://www.theidentitystore.co.uk/products.asp?SubCatID=91

    http://www.theidentitystore.co.uk/products.asp?SubCatID=90

I teach leatherwork and have used both. Steer away from shoe dye from cobblers though as it can tend to be unstable.

    Hope this helps

    Back to being a lurker.

My bath does not fill the space exactly so a tiny run of tiles needed. Got LA tiles with brown edge - is there a way to disguise it - stands out in white bathroom.

assuming you mean a small lay board at the end of the bath.
you could use white tile trim, most diy stores sell it.
a better option is it reduce the height of where your going too place them so the tiles finish a fraction below the level of the bath but not so much as too let water pool there.

Our bath is a good inch away from the wall on three sides and we have dumb quadrant tiles bridging the gap which all leak. I would say move the bath up to the wall then tile down to it if yours is the same. Cannot wait to rip ours out!

there can be various problems moving the bath.
the pipe work wont always allow it without being altered, being one.
ideally the bath is cut into all the walls it can touch.
it only needs too be in the wall a few millimetres, allowing the tiles to sit on the bath.
if the lay board or gap has to be there always put it at the opposite end to the taps.
if there is under an inch you can use this http://www.trimlux.com/how-to-install-trimlux-reg-25/ but it has too go on under the wall tiles, it is far from perfect and the white of the bath and the bath kit never match well.
if you want too pm me with some pictures i can give you the best option.
ive done loads of these over the years, there is no perfect solution apart from get a bath that fits very tight, ive done these all my working life so feel free to ask.

the below pictures are the best solution.
the height can be of your choice, ideally no less than 4 inches but always make it less than a whole tile as you just want it one piece high, otherwise it will look bitty and ruins it ascetically.
in this case the tops/shelves were done in wood but you can tile them and use tile trim shown in the 3rd picture.
