I have been looking online about making roman blinds. Has anyone made them without a kit like on this blog?

Yes i have! It was much easier than i thought it would be, although my window was wide & short rather than narrow & long so not as many 'folds' in mine.'there goes an old transexual, last seen heading south,

yes ive made several pairs for my new house, shes seems to have made them like you would a cushion, right sides tougher sew all round and turn inside out i think from looking very quickly at the tutorial.
i did mine like you would curtains wrong sides together i turned my main fabric in about 1.5 inch all round and used blackout lining that was about half inch smaller than the finished blind to hide the hems if that makes sense.
she also seems to sew the rings onto the lining i added a strip of lining across which i slid my rods through and sewed the rings onto that0 -

Florenceem wrote: »Thanks - I looked online - B&Q do cream grout - kitchen man is working here today - told him. At the moment - leaning more towards cream grout as my worktop is not plain so don't need busy look to the tiling. All these decisions. When I decided to renovate the house - just did not realise quite what it involved.
2 yrs ago we took a house down and rebuilt on the original foot print, plus went upwards and outwards with new sections. i left most of it to my husband as it was a nightmare build but i have to agree choosing thr right colour grout for all the floor and wall tiles (our house only has carpet in the bedrooms) so a lot of tiles, was a pain.
my whole downstairs is cream tiles with a black wide border that runs all around the perimeter of the house so i had to choose a grout there that would work with both i went for pale grey, in other areas i have white and in others cream. my house was also built in proper random stone so we hade to even choose a colour for the mortar and it had to be an exact mix everytime to so it looks the same all throught the build. you will get through it and you will be fine0 -
I've made plenty of blinds and never used a kit - they're easier than you would think"A cat can have kittens in the oven, but that don't make them biscuits." - Mary Cooper

Nearly done! Thanks for asking. Tomorrow I start cladding the lower walls, then skirting and dado to go on. Then it's blinds to go up, some wall units (plate rack, spice shelf etc)a door curtain to make (fabrics sitting waiting) and I want to put one more coat of varnish on the floor for good luck.
Splashed out on a new oak table, was looking for a pine or oak one to shabby up but couldn't find the right size and shape. Can't wait to put it in place.

I think sewing on a strip of lining is a good idea - is that instead of Roman blind tape?Decluttering Achieved - 2023 - 10,364 Decluttering - 2024 - 8,365 August - 0/45
