  • All these latest projects are stunning. I particularly love the telephone table. Can I ask what the fabric was? Do you remember?

Worth knowing that the AS tester was almost not enough for the clock without thinning down as I have a small orange ugly pine cupboard I was planning to do with a tester pot but I'll start off by watering it down now as I know it won't be enough otherwise. Really worth knowing, so thank you hmo.

Novice question - is there much difference between Authentico wax and AS wax? Authentico is the only one I have and wondereing how it will go on over the AS painted shelves.

Thank you, the fabric I used was Nina Campbell Zembla.

I haven't used Autentico wax, but I shouldn't think there is much difference and I'm sure it will be fine over AS paint.

Not exactly shabby chic but hoping someone here can help. My bedroom furniture which looked so good in my last Victorian house doesn't look right in a modern setting. It is pine - some waxed (although it is several years old and has not been re-waxed), and some stained darker but not waxed. I keep thinking I will paint them - probably off-white but might look at blues/greys - but am not sure if I can get a good coverage easily (I am not the most patient of people). Would I have to sand it/prime it first?
    Thanks

jumblejack, give it ago AS has some lovely colours i dont think you can go too far wrong unless you choose one of the vibrant ones most of the others i would think would blend in with most decor. that french linen on the telephone table would have all looked good on my clock too

no sanding needed unless you want to if there's a heavy bit of wax in crevices but priming in knot stain blocker would be a good idea on any unvarnished pine. I did a waxed pine dresser in 2 coats of chalk paint and wax. It did take quite a while but was worth it.
  • Here's another one I did last week, it was nasty orange varnished pine, it is now painted in AS Old Ochre and finished with clear wax.

That's the sort of look I want to aim for - did you sand the varnish first. My furniture isn't varnished but if I am going to attempt it I want it to look good. Just wonder if I have the patience to do it - a set of drawers similar to yours, 2 smaller chests with 4 drawers each, a bedside chest with 3 drawers, and a wardrobe with a drawer at the bottom. I painted a dresser a couple of years ago with F&B Cooking Apple Green but don't think the finish is very good, and the doors stick as well now, but that was using emulsion (a mistake I know). I thought I would try eggshell this time if I dare have a go.

Lovely clock you must be pleased. After I finish my office/workroom I have some As provence to paint a cheap chest of drawers for my guest room before March 1st when my friends are coming for the weekend.

I love the AS Ochre chest of drawers they look really expensive.
