Any wax you have will do. Clear or natural won't affect the colour. Antique pine will age a piece. Dark will make it look like you've just dug it up.

think I am gonna have a busy weekend - as well as finishing my chairs, I have bought 10 litres of culprinol garden shades in holly for the outside fencing, have still got the inside of the garden still to finish in lavender - nearly there with that - in fact I should probably give you a laugh and take a piccie of my little beach hut that I painted last summer - its lavender and cream - only thing is I am waiting for hubby to replace the window in there!!!! ALso bought an extending curtain pole for my little valance that I want to put above the blind in the kitchen- soooo many things to do and so little time!!!

I love this thread, very inspirational.

Does anyone have any experience of painting metal furniture? Our table and chairs are sort of gun metal grey, was thinking of getting a second hand wooden one but figure I may as well try and paint them and recover the seat pads. Any tips appreciated!
I have had many Light Bulb Moments. The trouble is someone keeps turning the bulb off :o

Yes, give it a fine sanding, clean and dry, spray with red oxide primer (can find it in wilkos/halfords) and paint. The Hammerite paints are nice.

one chair completely finished - yayyyyy - glad I used the wax it really does make a difference
two chairs need another coat and then waxing and one chair well it is still readyf or main coat then wax

Fence panels all painted in the Holly paint on the outside but the inside ones have had one coat of lavender and still need another - the store didnt have any in that colour so will have to try elsewhere - that is going to be next weekend I think

A very productive weekend - makes ya feel good doesnt it!

Getting ready for work right now so will post piccies later - ttfn x
