cuddles123 wrote: »Sorry to butt in Bibbittybob. Just wanted to say that I got my kitchen from Homebase and had huge problems. They wouldn't deliver as they couldn't get the van right up to the door. However they didn't let me know, just drove away
I then had some damaged items, mainly handles, and it took 3 deliveries before I got what I needed
Don't want to put you off - their stuff is good, but be firm re Customer Service
Thanks that's good to know, always like to hear other's experiences especially with customer service. To be fair we went in and a teenager grunted at us...worked out that they couldn't see us today and have made an appointment for tomorrow (I'm hoping it's with another designer!).
Went to B&Q on the way home and a lovely lady spent an hour discussing options with us and booked us an appointment with their designer. Looking at this kitchen but in duck egg bluepricey, but we have a trade account so would get 60% off. I'm a bit wary as we've had bad service from them before...not sure if it's just a company wide problem. I think maybe I'll have to put up with doing a bit of shouting in order to get a bargain, but service so far is spot on!

YAY someone "knows" me - lol - btw what is the scc forum - go on bet its something I should know - shabby chic - what oh is it shabby chic cafe???
AND my oh my - I like your choice in kitchen units - they look lush - had been going to suggest Ikea kitchens to you they are brilliant quality and value but I really really do like the colour of the one you have chosen - bet it will look gorgeous!!!!!
Yup, it's a forum someone created called shabby chic cafe.
We're a long way from ikea and never find they have everything in stock...because we're trade we've not found them that good price in comparison either but thanks ever so much for the suggestion0 -
hi ladies i seen your work and it inspired me to try something. i got an old mahogany rocking chair and done it up. several coats of primer and paint later it was ready to decopatch. its came out well for my first try. i sealed the painwork with a finishing spray called plastikoat.
i have no clue how to add a pic. do i just post the h-t-m-l code from flickr.

Television Unit
The wood was great to sand/paint and stain but the little cupboard thing at the bottom has been an absolute nightmare!
One of the doors was loose and broken, I tried to fix it but it was beyond help so I decided to take them both off. This bit was a nightmare!
They weren't screwed on but had metal rod things holding them on which went deep into the unit!
I pulled onside off whcih came away ok but the otherside woudln't move! Spent a good hour trying to get the metal out the wood and nearly gave up on the whole thing but managed to get it off; the wood had been damaged where the doors had been so have used some filler on it which could do with another layer and then sanding and painting again for a smoother finish.
I got it for 99p so wasn't going to loose anything for having a play about with it and was good practice!Starting my DMP Journey.0 -

Thanks
I'll be happier when I get the side bits smooth so you can't tell I had a fight with the doors! lol
I used Wilkos own Satin paint in Moonlight white (quick dry) and medium oak woodstain (wilkos again) for the top.

It seems like ages since I posted this wardrobe...
But I finally got around to painting it and distressing the edges.
