sorry about the folds in the paper - took it with me when I went to ikea today - ok - I think that if we get a funkier hood, that cooker and microwave come with it but we want to exchange it for a steel one as my neff double oven is steel and will look better along side it. Also but not an essential if we lose the pillasters which we can only do if they are the same size as a tray cupboard or something similar as we cant mess with the size without cutting the granite which is a cost we dont want. We have to keep the cost down all the way. Initially I was going to have the combi oven microwave and steam oven in one unit - next to it the double oven and the fridge freezer then the run above then 4 more tall units but to be honest when we were at Ikea today I had an idea - at the dining end of the run - I could get two low down base units - and turn them into a seating part - we saw it there today and it looked good
The display consists of the units above and also the ones below but the ones below have a different work top which doesnt match but if I used it for the seating bit at the end, I would be putting a piece of foam covered in some lovely cath kidston fabric so you woudnt see it anyway - do you think it would work????
There are two doors missing and the plinth and cornice but the shop will be supplying them so it means we have to buy a sink and I want one of the ceramic ones that looks like a belfast but it sits in the worktop rather than over it - concerned the children will bash it as they try and put their dishes in the sink plus we would need to buy a different base unit to house a belfast/butler sink, then we would need to buy the hobs that is with it - which is worth a grand but we can have it for about £375 (the lady said) then whatever we have to put to - to change the black appliances for the steel, then a couple of tall units and whatever worktop. It is still going to work out to a fair bit but not as much as buying a kitchen like this should - I think it is growing on me - my mind is buzzing with it all - but definitely think with a funkier hood, better wall tiles - throw in a bit of cath kidston and away we go - there wont be much budget left for ck fabric but I do already have some so mmm maybe a decorative panel or something but when we started this project I was going to have karndean flooring that was oak style - found an ebay supplier that does karndean for £15 a metre - bargain!!! Back to the drawing board now - what flooring would work with this??? Cmon peeps please feel throw to throw in some ideas - I need all the help I can get!0 -
are they separate bits then? how much space would you gain if you took them away and pushed the units closer.
i need a stainless steel hood too, not looked for one yet, my double over and hob are neff as well.
its difficult to know what to do isnt it as its a big expense as i said this kitchen is not what i had in my mind when we were building but i like it and it goes with the oak internal doors too and the table and chairs.
i think at the end of the day its also how you accessorise it too which is where i am struggling.0 -
the lady said that once you have removed it from this display you can put it back however you want - doesnt have to go back together the same and I guess as its all going on one long wall we should be able to get away with it - then in the island we are going to have my freestanding washing machine and tumble drier, we will need to get a dishwasher, the unit for the sink and another cupboard but hopefully we may be able to use some of the units in the second photo0

for flooring i would go for something light and easy clean, either tiles or cream Karndean.
and yes i think your idea could work.0 -

I will take pics but you might have to wait a while. I'm not even sure we'll be done in time for Christmas at this rate.
It sounds fab - looking forward to the piccies. Whereabouts are you - where is the granite place - its knowing who to trust isnt it!0 -
oh I dont believe it - I couldnt get the picture to go up and now its on twice - lol! sorry0

Danemi1: Looks gorgeous! Take a look at Carpetright as well for flooring, they seem to have some good bargains at the moment (and will fit).
I'm looking at replacing the kitchen vinyl myself, the one that's down at the moment is cheap and nasty - but all we could afford at the time. Looking to go for something better now and seriously considering Carpetright, they did a great job supplying/fitting our bathroom one. (No..no connection to the firm, honest), but will take a look at eBay as well, never thought of that.Normal people worry me.0 -
looking online now for a franke ceramic 1 1/2 sink - when we were in wickes yesterday we were looking at sinks - there was a double one that was gorgeous but when I stood there (I am 5 ft 7) it hurt my back as I had to lean over to wash up - (no I wasnt really stood there in my marigolds) but there was a sink and a half one that sat on top of the worktop rather than proud of the unit and it wasnt as low - so much better - I should have written the model down but would prefer to get a Franke if possible as they have a 50 year warranty0

depending on how much space you gain by not putting in the fancy bits you may be able to put in a slimline dishwasher, thats what i am doing as the base units are all 1000mm which is slightly bigger than what i had planned originally so now i only have 450mm left instead or the 600mm i was planning.
theres only three of us so that shouldnt be a problem and it will have to be freestanding as i wont be able to get a door for an integrated on, but you just have to make do and make it work for you dont you.0
