Try sanding down again and put a thinned down (paint thinner or water depending on the paint) coat on top again. Give it a pretty good sanding this time, and use light strokes. Hope this helps.Spendaholic_Chick wrote: »Help! I bought a pine bedside cabinet which someone had badly painted white, so I lightly sanded it and put a very thin coat of satin paint on this morning. Did you sand it right back to the wood? If you want a really smooth surface then that or paint stripper to get rid of all the badly done paiint could be the way to go. It is also possible that the original paint looks bad because someone didn't properly rinse off the paint or varnish remover that they used - traces of thises chemicals can have a weird effect on paint and make it look claggy in some circumstances.0 -

That's beautiful pennib, did you hand paint it or is it decoupaged? I have a great book of folk art and I trace the pictures on to the surface and paint with acrylics or watercolours, giving it a good few coats of water based varnish.
I'm very impressed with yours though!Normal people worry me.0
