Hi all, please can someone offer me some advice. I would like to paint a chest of drawers, it is pine at the moment and want to paint the bottom F&B dimnity and I want the top in brown.

What do I do? do I just paint the bottom with a plain white paint and then put the F&B dimnity on top? ALso, how do I do the brown top, do I just wax it? if yes, where do I get this wax and what is it called?

    Thanks xxx

you would need to sand the top until all varnish is removed and use rustin danish oil to give it a finish good luck!
I am determined to lose weight!:kisses3:

You can finish the top with either wax, oil, or varnish. If you ask at your local diy shop they will show you where all are shelved in the same place. Check out earlier posts or use google to see how these finishes differ.

If you want a 'brown' finish you can apply a stain before sealing with the wax/oil. You can also get 2in1 products that stain and varnish at the same time.

As a clue to how your wood will look with a clear finish, run a damp cloth over the bare, sanded surface. This will show you the natural colour you will get and you can decide if you want to use a stain as well.

If you check out my posts on this thread, I have written about how to paint wood a few times. Others have too, so I won't repeat that here.

    Good luck! :)

We have put a short dumpy picket style fence up around our veg patch and we have 2 pointed ends and on middle pannel part of the fence and rather chuck them into the burner I would like to make them into signs or something but I don't really hae a creative bone in my body.

Can anyone help me with some idea of what to do? please...?

My coffee table was looking very shabby after 15 or so years of use.
But it is SUCH a lovely piece.. and SO handy!.. All the downstairs kids toys are kept in there, and it matches my tv stand and dresser cabinet.. (well it used to.. but this table was the first item bought of the series)

It was well and truly worn..

I had already started sanding when I remembered to take pictures.. but it shows very clearly how discolored it was..

    And the end result:

I am pretty proud of it I must say.
    It's absolutely lovely.

Thanks to you all for the inspiration!
