Ok guys I have ploughed right through this thread you guys have some great ideas and have done some lovely transformations, so I am asking for your help. My home is in serious need of a makeover and I think shabby chic is the way forward for me.
So ..... Paint colours to start with, I want to decorate my kitchen....am open to any colour suggestions, my kitchen units are a pine colour and the tiles are white.
Hall stairs and landing are very light and have a cream carpet, but wood flooring downstairs, would like a light colour in there.
Then the front room, I fancy a pale blue.
So I bow to all of your expertise and hope that you can come up with some colour suggestions for me.0 -

I havent but could take some tonight, my front room is 18ft x 13 ft has patio doors one end and a large window the other, I have a fireplace in the middle down one of the long walls.
My sofas are brown leather, not sure if that helps at all?0 -
I'm hoping to tap into your inspiration shabby chic'ers.
I have a 'toilet room' down stairs that is 1m x 1.5m, not very big but also used to store the ironing board etc. It's er, not a very nice room and as I rent I can't pull it out to start again so I have to make do with what we have.
I was thinking (especially as all the pipes are visible under the hand basin) of making a curtain to hide this and attach it to the sink somehow.
The tiles are blood red so will need painting and the ceilings are very high up.
How can I decorate this room and accessorize it to look light bright and shabby chic'd?I'm challenging myself to only buy clothes from charity shops till 20th May 2012.

May I join please?
I have loved reading the shabby chic threads for months now, and have finally took the plunge and bought my first item to paint etc:j
It's not getting delivered till Monday, so no pics at the moment, but it is a rather large wardrobe, rail on one side and shelves on the other - with delightful metal labels on each shelf for 'collars' handkerchiefs' 'hosery' etc. I absolutely love it, and it was only £15:j
So, I am now going to reread as much of the thread as I can manage, as I have no idea as to where to start. I know I want an off white colour (I think - bedroom walls are natural calico colour, do you think an off white would work?) and some pretty paper to line the shelves etc.
Wish me luck please - tis going to be a big job:D0 -
A quick question. Don't know if you'll know but can you paint laminate flooring?I'm challenging myself to only buy clothes from charity shops till 20th May 2012.

I wouldn't think that you can paint laminate, I would imagine it would give a very poor finish and rub off very quickly. It wouldn't be the first time I've been wrong though so I'll bow to anyone elses expertiseDebt: 16/04/2007:TOTAL DEBT [strike]£92727.75[/strike] £49395.47:eek:   £43332.28 repaid 100.77% of £43000 target.MFiT T2: Debt [STRIKE]£52856.59[/STRIKE] £6316.14 £46540.45 repaid 101.17% of £46000 target.2013 Target: completely clear my [STRIKE]£6316.14[/STRIKE] £0 mortgage debt. £6316.14 100% repaid.0
