Ooo I have loved reading this thread and I wondered if I may sneak in ... the thing is you see.... we havent actually set a date yet, other than this year  ...though (not so secretly) I would love to have the 11th of November, my H2B wants it to be asap lol, so with this in mind we have already got the rings and I have got the dress (well its being made) and we have a shortlist of places to marry...:)

Plan is just the 2 of us .. a tropical beach.. a registrar (or something similar lol) and a photographer! :rotfl:

It is going to be a very quiet, romantic day of EXACTLY what WE want and after reading the trouble some of you are having with relatives etc I am glad that we chose this way! There will be a party on our return for the family and friends who have "missed" out though as it isnt the first time for either of us ... they havent missed us actually getting married before ... just not to each other lol!

So I was just really wanting to say hello, congratulations and well done on all the plans and dress shopping etc and if anyone has any advice (as much as you can advice someone on a wedding without a date yet :o) as to things to note, remember, do etc I would be all ears!

    Thanks in advance NN x

Bluespirit - thanks for the recommendation for OH's outfit, will take a look in there and see what we can find. Your wedding shoes sound gorgeous and comfortable, sometimes a hard combination to find! Well done you. I hope you had a good time at the open evening at your wedding venue, that would have been fun.

Losingpatience - do you go to Studio 24 at all? I just wondered since you are into metal! I'm a regular there. That's annoying that your suppliers aren't getting back to you, I hope they call soon. It's hard co-ordinating all the bits for the day and booking everything when they won't get back to you! But great news about the honeymoon, that will be a little weight off your shoulders knowing you don't need to save for that too. Really sorry to hear about H2B, that's such a shame for you both. Sending cyber hugs your way.

Hello and welcome Neenaww. I hope you will be staying on the board with us to be a November bride but if not then good luck for when you do have your big day. This wedding forum in general is really good for getting tips and knowing what you need to get organised. I think Swinstie put up a list of things she has done/yet to do. You could have a look at that for inspiration. Think it's on page 6. A beach wedding sounds fab and I agree that you should do it the way you want to. Family getting involved and taking over is really difficult.

  • Bluespirit – congratulations on getting your shoes!! I got mine about a month ago and I know I need to start wearing them in but I’m too scared to even get them out the box in case I spoil them! Yup, think I’m going to buy the flip flops and hide them in his case! I actually did this on our last holiday. He was adamant he wouldn’t wear flip flops (proper trainer man, even on the beach) but I got a pair for him and he wore them every day! Did you go to your venue yet and see it set out?

Losingpatience – wow where are you going to go on your honeymoon? Any thoughts yet? Sounds like you’re really on a roll getting everything booked. Did you get your engagement ring re-sized yet? I bit the bullet and got mine re-sized 2 sizes a couple of weeks ago. I put another ring on that hand for the week while I didn’t have it so it wasn’t too bad but as soon as I got it back I realised how much I’d missed it! Am so glad I got it re-sized as I would terrified it would slip off, although I thought it fit perfectly when he first gave it to me! Love is blind, eh?! Did you pick up your wedding rings yet?

Hi Neenaww and welcome to the thread! I’m getting married on 11/11/11 so we could be date twins! Sounds like you know exactly what you want and will go for it! Good luck and keep us posted!

Enchantica – beautiful dress. Proper princess. Is it finished now, have you got it at home?

I’ve really let the wedding planning slide the last month! However, I have kicked myself up the bum and I’m hoping to get loads sorted this weekend. I’m going shopping with my mum tomorrow for BM jewellery, BM gifts and BM clutch bags. Then on Monday I’m going shopping with my OH to get his shoes, register our gift list and get ties/handkerchiefs. In between that, I’m going to make sure we get our invite info over to the designer (an old friend giving us an amazing discount!) so he can get cracking on those!

After watching the Royal Wedding today, it has made me wish our wedding was happening asap! Am getting impatient!! Hope everyone’s having a lovely bank holiday weekend.

Oh lovely Swinstie, I didn't know! Are you doing anything to recognise Armistice Day at all? We're just going to have some collection buckets for Help for Heroes at the bar. That is one of OH's jobs -- to contact Help for Heroes and organise the bucket!

Hi again ladies - sorry not been about much, been on holiday and trying to declutter our flat to get it ready to go on the market!

Losingpatience - I'm really sorry to hear about your difficult time recently, I hope things improve for you soon. That's very generous of your parents though. Where abouts in the Carribean are you thinking for the honeymoon? I can definitely recommend the Carribean coast of Mexico - would go back there in a second given the chance (and money!) The rings sound lovely - and very similar to what we're going for too. I've still got to buy my ring, but think we've decided on it. OH has picked his up, and it felt very exciting when he tried it on!

Neenaww - welcome to the thread, I hope you get your wedding arranged for the 11/11/11 and can stay with us. Your wedding sounds idyllic!

Enchantica - you look beautiful in your outfit! Although we live in Edinburgh, we're actually getting married in Fife, as we're both originally from there.

Chrissy - did you manage to get all your bridesmaid stuff bought yet?

Well a few things have happened with us. The main one is we had our 6 month meeting with our venue last weekend, so have agreed on our menus, drinks packages, timings, etc. It all feels very real having picked things out now, and its getting very exciting! We also went to the open day, and the room looked amazing with all the tables set out. We met the head chef and tried some of the canapes, which were all delicious and the chef was really helpful about arranging our menus :D My mum was also thrilled as she got to see the venue's delux bedroom which they've now booked her and my dad into for no extra cost on the wedding night.

My sister has potentially thrown a spanner in the works as she may no longer be able to be one of my BMs, as she's just announced she's pregnant (so will be very heavily pregnant on the day). The dresses have been bought, so whilst I'm really pleased for her its a bit of a nightmare from a wedding point of view. We're going to see nearer the time how the dresses would work. They've got lace up backs, which might allow a little bit of leeway. My other adult BM might also be able to fit into the smaller dress, originally for the now-pregnant one, which would mean the bigger dress might be ok with a bit of alteration, but obviously we won't know until nearer the time! I do have a backup plan though - one of my close friends is the same size as my size, so if my sister can no longer do it, I'm going to ask if she would mind stepping in. Hopefully she'll be pleased to be asked, rather than upset that she was a second choice BM!

We've also had our marriage preparation course, which we needed to attend before the priest would marry us. It was actually relatively interesting, and taught us a little bit about communicating better during arguments, etc.

Finally, and slightly O/T - I've just had laser eye surgery, so now I will be able to walk down the aisle without contact lenses or glasses :j

Aww thank you all for the lovely welcome, its great being able to get giddy with others who understand! Slightly sad news (in a way) is that I may have to leave you all as we are looking into the possibility of a September wedding now... due to availability of agreeable holidays for ourselves.. blooming employers eh! Still its all part of the last minute wedding plans and is kinda exciting!

    I will keep you informed!!
