Personally I don't find it offensive and occasioally use it myself
I just think a site that is quite harsh on any swear word by its members should maybe consider not using those words themselves
Do as I say not as I do cos I am the boss I guess ......fair enough as long as we know0 -
The title of the thread had the swearword in asterixs. Surely that could have given a warning to all the sensitive souls, who get hurt by a single word, of the content of the thread.
Back on topic, I saw these bikes when I visited London and I had a look at the tariffs. Maybe I was reading it wrong but it seemed very expensiveS!!!!horpe0 -
This is what came up when a colleague searched the Barclays site for 'Visa Chargeback'.0

To those who find the use of the F word offensive - Im sorry you were offended.
This for me was a piece of social commentary - and one that is on topic with this site - rather than irrelevant frippary or just posted for effect.
I didnt want to labour the point so I put the *** in my own post - but hoped that'd give a clue what it was about.
Yet without showing the picture (taken on my own phone) it is impossible for people to see the point.
The swear word was part of the narrative of the blog and impossible to do without it (blurring it out would've missed quite how well mimicked the font was) so I deemed it necessary. That is my prerogative as the publisher of the site.
Again if you were offended then that's a shame, but I think it was a worthwhile blog to do.Martin Lewis, Money Saving Expert.

You would clearly be surprised, then, at how often swear words appear uncensored in the broadsheets, it's the red-tops that insert asterisks and exclamation marks in lieu of the letters.Conjugating the verb 'to be":

Norman_Castle wrote: »Its the use of F*** in the title and then a photograph showing the word in full on this site that bothers me.Writing swear words with some letters missing is little better than writing them in full and showing a photograph of the word is no different from typing it.I swear endlessly, but I do not want swearing to become the norm and acceptable in public. This would not have been printed in daily newspapers or shown on the news.If you were witnessed adding those stickers you could be convicted of a public order offence.Would this be allowed on this site if it had been posted by anyone other than you?

I can understand your angst, it would lessen society if using this word became the norm, but you have to concede that there is a use (or uses) for this particular word where no other word will do. Or will have such great effect.
It is a swear word, but it is also a word. Used properly it is a very effective tool. Please learn to overlook it's less salubrious usage if you see it being used as a sharp, cutting, funny or descriptive tool with no equal.S!!!!horpe0 -
You really find that offensive?? Seriously?? After all its only a word in the English Dictionary. I can imagine the TV you watch in your house must be very dull.
Just because a word is in the dictionary, doesn't mean it can't be found offensive, thats why they put vulg. after them.
And as for TV - based on your comment - I can only conclude that you rate shows depending on the amount of swearing in them, so I will spare myself imagining how exciting the TV you watch in your house is0
