'F*** Barclays – brilliantly terrible graffiti' blog discussion

Barclays is widely known to be complicit in the arms trade which has fuelled conflicts and human rights abuses on a global scale. If businesses are not run ethically, there would be protests by people who want to live ethically. The beauty of the nature of the protest is that it conveyed a message, effectively, imaginatively and the job done aesthetically, without the activists being a menace or being destructive. It's worth all the attention it gets.0

This is the internet and as such language is unregulated.
Notwithstanding, a cursory search of the offending word on the Daily Telegraph site brings up 283 hits - most of which are from articles that were printed.
In my view the word was entirely appropriate in the context in which it appeared.0 -

Yet this is a protest movement about a bank - something interesting to many MSE readers.
I am sorry, but I disagree, it is more like fly posting or graffiti to me, which is something that costs taxpayers lots of money to clean up.
And these have now been given extra publicity which may encourage copycatsMy light may be on, but that doesn't always mean I am looking at the PC - I am far more likely to be cuddling or feeding Tianna atm, so please don't think I am ignoring you if I don't reply quickly
Our Precious Baby Tianna has now joined our Family, she is much loved and very welcome, xxx0 -
I don't see how including this childish, behind the bike sheds photo has relevence to anything MSE campaigns for. Barclays didn't take the public shilling and other banks are more deserving of scorn.
If and I won't be able to type the words here) someone painted out the letters on Barclays' branch signs overnight - shall we say to read Barclays !!!!, nobody would find that particularly clever. It would also be a criminal act. Would Martin take a photo of one and publish it? How far will this go? !!!!!! Barclays? Barclays are !!!!s?
As another poster said, this is all very schoolboyish and puerile. I also think it was a bad decision and undermines your credibility enormously. Any imprecations to treat other posters nicely, or to avoid inflammatory posts are now consigned to the bin. But as you say - you're the boss, do what you like. In your place I'd delete the post and these comments and accept that after a long lunch, some things seem funnier than they are.0 -
Hey folks you're entitled to your view - i see opinions are divided as they are on all interesting issues
The barclays bike issue has now been covered by most major newspapers apparently there were 1,000 stickers made.
Anyway I've had my say - I dont think there's much more to add.Martin Lewis, Money Saving Expert.

Clearly not.
In bypassing the swear filter to type out a string of obscene words you have invalidated any claim to taking a moral stand.0 -

Consider, if none of the banks had been 'bailed out,' would Barclays survived?Conjugating the verb 'to be":
-o I am humble -o You are attention seeking -o She is Nadine Dorries0 -

so sorry but I find this thread funny :rotfl::o0 -
there was a photo of a stickered bike in the Times today - reading 'Barclays bonus shaker'. Not a bad pun, and no rude words which makes a change, and should help the debate here!
The article referred to 'PK Munroe the artist' (and i found he has a blog with this sticker and some others, called 'you can stick it').0
