good morning everyone. NY is in a terrible way and I am very sad.

NY does look a mess on the TV pictures - I've been trying to find out about the central park area as a friend's young son is over there with his school - some educational trip they'll be having!

But somehow I expect NY will get sorted out much quicker than was managed in New Orleans after Katrina, or Haiti come to that - much of the damage there still hasn't been fixed! Doubtless Obama will throw resources at NY as it'll look good for his re-election efforts; far better than wasting zillions on his advertising campaign, anyway (sorry - am a bit cynical about politicians, can you tell?).

tomorrow is surgery #1 and they have asked me to check in at 630am. I have de-varnished myself in preparation.

0630? Ye Gods, that's an unholy hour!

Most of yesterday at work was trying to deal with the after effect of Sandy in NY and NJ. Obviously everyone (businesses) wants their service restored asap (and rightly so) but we can't put our installers in danger to go into buildings with flood waters in them, and installing new gear in a wet place still wont help!

I had the horrific task of trying to prioritize what sites we would assess first (usually done by NY co-workers but no way to get in touch with them) so I did emergency services and hospitals first, water, heating, government such as FBI/CIA/ATF, Fuel verticals (light, petrol pumps) etc, and then kind of everyone else.

Wow you do have an important job! But I don't understand how you can prioritise anything if you can't contact the workers who'll actually be installing new equipment - what a nightmare!

A large coffee company was unhappy with that because shops that were open couldnt take card payments. Like who the F cares if someone cant get a latte? Just give it to them for free. The way people think boggles my mind.

I share your bogglation - don't think my priority would be going for coffee if I was in the middle of a disaster zone!

:grouphug: Don't worry hun, you'll be fine. I'm going to set my alarm to make sure I'm up and with you in spirit - will be thinking good thoughts for you all day - until it's over and you're tucked up in bed waiting for your visitors to shower you with flowers and choccies (s*d the diet just for a few days!). ;)
