So here is my latest passing thought: what about a mastectomy scar tattoo? Since I can not have implants again, maybe that would add some flowers or something where the ugly part will be.

In MSE news: I made £10 yesterday. not massive but more than nothing. I also discovered my company will do tuition refund of $7,500 a year (American money) so I am going to ask my boss if I can do it and train to do something else on their dime. He can say no, but actually they want to keep me so let's hope.

    xx

Sorry I've been AWOL and missed so much. Hope the pain is easing from your surgery. Yes to the tattoo when you find the right one and the right artist for you. I saw an amazing pic of a post-mastectomy tattoo last week and was thinking of you. I'll see if I can find it and post it here for you. I think you need to leave 6-12 months post op for your scar tissue to calm down, so you have lots of time to plan it (and save for it!)

Your next surgery is on my niece's birthday, so I'm not likely to forget that (she's counting down daily!)

Wow that's a fab tuition allowance from work. Hope you find a course to suit. I think counselling would be great, and the suggestion to focus on kids/teens is a great one. What about LGBT Youth? I'm sure you can 'sell' it to your boss as being good for management skills and making you a better rounded person. ;) I would second the OU. I almost signed up a couple of years ago till I realised I just couldn't make the time commitment, but I spent a lot of time looking at their info and it is a great way to study. There's also lots of free resources available on their site. I'll dig out the link; you might find some kind of 'taster' for counselling on there to help you make up your mind.

I'll try to come back and check in but life is a bit crazy and not massively MSE right now so I've been avoiding the boards! :o

feeling much better today, however my poor doggies are terrified of all the fireworks and they are all hiding :(

Glad to hear you're feeling a bit better today.

    Things to help scared doggies:
    1. Rescue remedy.
    2. Lavender oil in an oil burner.
    3. DIY 'thundershirts' - don't know just how small your dogs are; maybe a baby vest that fits tightly would do? This technique is surprisingly effective. :)
    4. Make them a 'sanctuary' - small, dark, enclosed - to hide in (think 'under the duvet' and work from there ;) ).

There's also a commercial preparation that is supposed to calm them down [a DAP - pheronome -spray] but I believe you're supposed to use it for a couple of weeks - lavender oil is probably better at this stage.
    HTH.

That's good - great minds, eh? - but were the dogs wearing them when they were frightened?

I put rescue remedy into the water bowl if we're in the UK during 'fireworks week' which seems to work.
Unfortunately it's not as easy in Spain as [apart from the local ferias] we often don't know when someone is going to start firing rockets; they send them into clouds (usually during late spring and early summer - in the hope it will cause a shower of rain!). They're not pretty rockets; just make a hell of a bang!

Robin, I had the thundershirts put away from last new years and I had to dig them out quickly when I remembered I had them. Getting them on can be a bit of err a chore shall we say but once they are on, they're on!
