Also as you all know from previous posts I am having this surgery and I dont want a beach ball of a belly and no boobs.

So here is my latest passing thought: what about a mastectomy scar tattoo? Since I can not have implants again, maybe that would add some flowers or something where the ugly part will be.

Just introducing myself quickly as it's late, you write so wonderfully and though I haven't read every page, I wish you well for what you are planning.

I had an immediate DIEP reconstruction after my mastectomy four years ago and early next year hope to have the final touch, nipple reconstruction and tattooed areola. The tummy tuck that resulted from the op was a welcome bonus! Have you seen Elaine Sassoon's book, The Boudica Within? Sorry if you have, and I've missed you mentioning it, but it has lots of wonderful post-mastectomy photos, including a most magnificent tattoo.

Something exciting to plan amid the inevitable horror that it's happening at all.

    Best wishes.

Robin, as you so rightly guessed no passport yesterday. So far nothing today either.

..Give them a chance! If it takes at least a fortnight to get an ordinary renewal done, I really can't see them getting a first issue out to you any quicker..

I am setting myself a challenge in the 10 week run up to Christmas to lose 2lbs a week so my holiday snaps are not appalling this year.

Almost a kilo a week? If that's realistic please can you give me some lessons (that don't involve starvation)?

First thought: As you've got a review tomorrow, is it worth asking whether they can move some of the belly fat into your boobs during the same op - am sure I saw someone with a similar 'rejection' problem have that done on a late-night Emb@rr@ssing Bod!es prog recently?

Second thought: Give the Bio Oil a chance to work; scar tissue will be much more sensitive than normal skin.
As I've said before, it's probably much more noticeable to you than anyone else anyway, and although a well executed tat can look amazing, getting the right one for you is worth spending some time on; finding a really talented artist and working out a unique design which you, OH and the artist have planned together (unless you want to surprise OH?).

In MSE news: I made £10 yesterday. not massive but more than nothing. I also discovered my company will do tuition refund of $7,500 a year (American money) so I am going to ask my boss if I can do it and train to do something else on their dime. He can say no, but actually they want to keep me so let's hope.

..Now that is a great idea! :D

I think you would be a great counsellor.

Could you sell them the idea that with the training you would be in a very good position to help out their stressed execs. This could be a way into the profession, while still keeping the money flowing xx.

No no no no! An OU qualification is worth much more! ..It proves you can look after yourself [keep working] and have the maturity and self discipline to study in your own time.
When I was helping my Dad to cut down the huge number of applicants for every job at his last place of work - over 300 for every post on offer - he told me to reject everyone who didn't either have a double first from Oxbridge or an OU degree, and the latter were preferred!

Hello my dear, I feel like I have been neglecting you recently with my feelings of self pity. Anyway, tattoo sounds like a good plan as long as like others say you spend time to get the right one and allow your body time to recover from the surgery.

2lbs a week should be achievable, or so I'm told, and will make you feel so much better about yourself. Let me know how you get on. I'm going to start a tracker in my signature, now DS wedding paid for.

OU is great but hard as you spend a lot of the time working alone. The advantages are its flexible, the disadvantages you need to be 100% focussed. I did a few courses when I was looking for a change of career 10 years ago but cannot get financing now so had to let it slip. Counselling has always been one of my dreams to and if I could go back to college now, that is what I'd train for.

Good luck with your consult tomorrow and thanks for all your support.

If you do the counselling program don't you then have to do further practical training? Sorry I am such a dolt but actually, not being from here the educational system here is a bit baffling to me

I would imagine that you would have to do some sort of practical training too as just text book learning isn't really going to prove you are good at it is it. It'll just evidence that you know the rules not how to put them into practice. You are not being a dolt, its a pretty valid question. Most OU courses are broken into different modules and can take years to qualify to a level where you can actually practice that skill. Depends what you want out of your learning really.

Hi NewLeaf, kids are great, are you an honorary auntie to any? Kids can do with all the kindness they can get.

What about directing your counselling expertise, when acquired, to children or vulnerable teens? There are so many different forms of counselling, all of which have their merits, that it might be worth seeing which type you felt suited you best.

I once thought about training to do Art Psychotherapy, but I think my real dream is to be a painter in Provence xx
