Erm possibly not if same floor space being used. But you could argue being out of keeping with the vernacular ..... And right to light and right to privacy being invaded

I think missrir is right about the right to light and certainly the privacy bit. It's certainly worth a letter stating your objection.

No....change of use and elevation.....object and copy in your councillors and MP. Lots of jittery politicians these days..

However if its a Free School there are planning changes afoot that let them apply for retrospective planning permission

Ask the borough to explain the legal position behind their suggestion that no consultation is required

    Keep us posted.

ok so here is my news... we have a quaint little 1 level primary school 5 houes down form us. the council has decided to rebuild it as a 5 storey building with the top 2 floors being residential flats!! Is that even allowed

Hmm. By '1 level' do you mean single storey? ..Which is to become three floors of school plus two residential floors on top?

No, that can't be right; even though the Capital's schools are bursting at the seams so extending upwards does make some sense, given land values.

Did you attend the meeting, NL?

Out of keeping with the area - maybe.
Right to light? But the proposed development is five properties away from NL's house so that won't work.
Privacy ditto - unless access to the site is via NL's home.

Concern about increased traffic/restricted access for emergency services, potential danger to school-children and residents might carry more weight.

Still, maybe it's a fantastic plan that will enhance the area and add value to NL's house?
..Did you get any more information from the ward meeting, NewLeaf - is a plan of defence required?

How is Mom getting on? Feeling a bit more settled, I hope. :)

My mom still isnt too well. I made her get a hair cut and colour to cheer her up. New job marches on and I just feel consumed by everything.
