  • Just to add my two peneth, I pay them via the Faster Payments System although they possibly accepted that with us as we dont have a garanteed pay day, so our deal was to pay them a minimum amount at some point within one calender month .

I have had them trying to make me pay via credit card, questioning assets and also trying to force us to take out a bank loan to pay them in the past. Its not fun NL x

They do also have an automated phone number whereby you can call with your debit card and pay what you wish without actually having to speak to THEM. I found that useful in the past if wanting to pay an extra amount here and there in addition to the agreed amount as and when I was able to.

Well done , you are doing great.x

Great advice received here by the way, Elephant you seem to have a knack of popping up as and when needed ! x

Blimey Fred and Wilma - who said anything about tax avoidance? By asserting that we intend to help NewLeaf beat THEM into submission I was hoping to inject a little humour into the situation, you know, lighten things up. Of course NewLeaf intends to pay all that she owes, however she should be able to pay it by whatever means she feels comfortable and secure with, this is to what I alluded when I mentioned the 'beating THEM into submission'

You sound a bit brighter today, NewLeaf, I am happy to hear. Will check in again after work and see how much progress you've made, well done and keep going

NewLeaf I and FredandWilma have both suggested a separate bank account with only the funds in it for HMRC transferred into it appropriately so you can give them the DD to this account and be done with it. Think about it, possibly the least hassle solution? Also if you do this make sure it is NOT linked to any of your other accounts (separate bank completely) so they can't do funny business with transferring funds without your permission. Worth looking at the bankrupt or debtfreewannabe threads for info on this so you understand bank accounts a bit.

I'm not in any way advocating tax avoidance, and frankly, you will never beat THEM into submission.

It was more a question of covering my back, rather than suggesting anything else.

yes well I think everyone who has given advice has been lovely and well within the spirit of the law :)

I really do want to pay this tax so I will keep plodding on. I paid another £200 today and am on my way to bank via dentist with another £100.

I will have to look for a new bank to start an account in on Monday as I start work straight after the dentist

    Good advice, missrlr.

I still wouldn't, as it's been suggested, give THEM, any of your card details, be they credit cards or debit cards, especially not to keep on file as a regular method of payment.

Never underestimate the power ( power is probably not the right word,) of companies to whom you owe money.

Hi NL and friends. Just home from work after an blooming awful day, made a real c0ck up and am upset (which is probably why I may have appeared 'snappy' to you F&W, and for this I apologise unreservedly. I think the written word can be so easily misinterpreted, and after all, we are all here to support our friend NL, so lets not go falling out amongst ourselves shall we? BTW, F&W I don.t suppose you have a dog called Dino do you :rotfl:

Well I have poured a glass of wine - unheard of at this ridiculous hour, and I am not much of drinker normally - but I needed it and to come and be amongst friends for a while to restore my equilibrium before I crack on and make my (and Mr Dot's) tea. Rest assured, dear friends, that I will dine well tonight, fasting is certainly not on the menu on Fridays.

We are going to spend the day with our DGD tomorrow and the very thought lifts my spirits like nothing else can, so tonight I resolve to give the house a right good clean - not that it's particularly mucky you understand, but my wellies are sticking to the kitchen floor lol. I normally reserve this delightful task for the weekend but as previously mentioned I have other plans. So, come 7 pm I shall be resplendent in my pinny with stardrops in hand.........or perhaps I will abandon all thoughts of cleanliness and spend the evening on here with you lot!

Right, I will just pop off and see how our friend Robin is doing - didn't catch her usual post at lunchtime when I had a cheeky lurk, I hope she's ok.

Oh and NL £300 in one day to THEM!! Did I read it right? If so GO YOU GIRL.

    I will be back

    Dot
