OMG New Leaf - I have just lost an evening reading your whole diary - I can't believe it's 10pm! I really want to post but I am on an early shift tomorrow and must go to bed, but I will be back tomorrow - Oh my, you have had such a rotten run of bad luck, this will change - it IS changing - I will post again tomorrow, in the meantime, chin up Girl, you are an honourary Brit and we smile in the face of adversity. I admire you so much and will type more when I have time.
Take care

Just been doing some research so I can talk to HMRC about Mr F's new 'T' code (basically 'T' stands for Total **** Up). Came across this article which I thought you might find helpful too http://www.thisismoney.co.uk/money/news/article-1689454/How-check-challenge-tax-code.html

Fortune you do make me laugh.
So I took a diazepam and called THEM this morning. If I fall asleep while writing this post I will hit the reply button as soon as I wake up.. ha!
So I did get some sage advice that when calling THEM if a woman answers put the phone down and keep trying until you get a gent. Which I did.
Unsympathetic? tick!
Clueless? tick!
monotone? tick!
told me it was my fault for being a thicko and having a company car? TICK! (plus I already knew that)
His best offer for me was £190 a week (impossible) He asked me to but it on a credit card (NO!)
So I told him I would pay it on a budget plan I can set up through the website (which apparently isn't the "right" plan) and he wanted to know what assets I had, to which I replied (NONE OF YOUR BEESWAX) I asked him if they were still taking my £85 a week. he said yes they would continue to take it, so I said fantastic, and I hung up.
Then I had to repeat same scenario pretending to be OH (handy time to be a lesbian) and went through the same SH*t
So net-net I will pay what I can and they can still have their £85 a week from both of us and send me shouty letters. You can reason with these people it is impossible!Mortgage: £280,752/ £262,515.84

Well done you for calling them TWICE.
I would just be careful is the £85 coming out of your account on a Direct Debit or Standing Order, if the former they can amend the amount so pop it in writing to them today that you spoke to x person on y date and agreed to continue the £85 per week payment for the tax year 11/12
Ditto for OH
Send with proof of posting and keep on file then if anything happens you can scream and shout at them with evidenceStart info Dec11

Ok missrlr thanks for explaining that ... now here is where I become an idiot... how do I cancel the direct debit and change it to a standing order? What information would I need from them to set up a standing order?Mortgage: £280,752/ £262,515.84

I was told I couldn't pay via SO, it had to be DD (so can't be changed or stopped without THEIR agreement).
Will be interested to hear if anyone advises that that's not correct? :think:0 -
beautifully put fredandwilma.
NewLeaf - sorry I would recommend a call back and make sure the DD is only for £85 and then say you want to change to SO and what are the details, plus you can use these details to pay more when you need - no more calling them!
Don't want to worry you but the only other thing is to have a dedicated account with ONLY the exact amount for the DD each week and NO OD facility in it so they can't take any moreStart info Dec11

Ok I rang THEM again (queque 2nd diazapam) they wont do a SO. I have an idea. I can photocopy their nasty grams with the bank giro thing at the bottom so I have a bunch of those paying in tickets and then just keep taking them to the bank and cancel the direct debits (does this sound like a good idea or is it the diazepam talking)?Mortgage: £280,752/ £262,515.84

That's what I meant; THEY told me they'd only accept a DD, not a SO.
..Which is what THEY have also told NewLeaf:NewLeaf wrote:Ok I rang THEM again (queque 2nd diazapam) they wont do a SO.

Umm, it's a bit of a fuzzy memory, but I think someone told me that THEIR alarm-bells will ring if you try and cancel the DD while still owing money. Not worth risking THEM taking "further action for debt recovery" if THEY perceive a lack of co-operation?
I didn't understand the result of your 'phone-calls to THEM, NewLeaf?0
