'Morning NewLeaf, :hello:The accountant is coming to see me this morning.
Good luck! Hope his advice is helpful; worth his fee. What's funny is I think "THEM" are the meanest to people who actually WANT to PAY the tax.
You have a point - why do THEY make it so difficult to vary the repayments? Having to 'phone up for a lecture every time is a real discouragement to over-paying the agreed sum. Do you know if THEY charge interest on monies owed to THEM (I couldn't get a straight answer out of THEIR employee last time I 'phoned about my own deficit)?Don't be fooled.. I am still in a mad panic
:grouphug: Please don't panic. Hope the accountant will tell you that as long as you've got a repayment agreement [which you're honouring] THEY won't start claiming your possessions..
ps. Am still thinking about the other thing - one day [probably after I've dealt with my own wretched paperwork for THEM] I will get back to you on that. The subject has brought up some rather disturbing thoughts in respect of my own position, which am still working through in my very slow way.0 -
Brizzled damn to THEM. I need to do a new SOA but can't face it today. The accountant is coming to see me this morning.

NL you have a valid point there, I am with you on that one and infact have had the very same rather heated argument with THEM in my time on the exact same subject. You are trying to pay, you are paying ( something ) , you are clearly making an effort and doing the best that you can do . Thats one hell of a crazy tax bill but I am so pleased that you have some plans that you can put into action to pay some of it. Just keep doing what you are doing, small regular ish amounts. They are much more lenient than they once were and a little more understanding that many people are stuggling these days.
Sending you huge mungous hugs this morning xxLBM July 2011 - Finally took control Nov 2011 DFD Sometime in the distant future !

As long as you pay the amount by the due date of the 31Jan THEY cannot kick off about it or do anything. Check the dates stuff was due with your accountant but its only if you don't pay and don't make an effort to pay once the due date is past that there is a drama.
You have this sorted, you are OK - well doneStart info Dec11

paid off my 2011 and paid £500 to OH's. I transfered £700 from my savings (leaving £100) to the current account which will hit tomorrow and then I will pay that onto OH's which will bring her 2011 down to £4,922.04. I will sell enough stock today to cover that £4,922.04 (if takes a while to get to the account because it is American stock) and then I will pay that off.
My friend will give me enough work to earn £40 a week extra so that will go right on the tax.
I won an award last month for being a good employee. They sent me a pre-paid visa card with $750 USD on it for a thank you. I never had a prepaid visa before. And it is in USD! Anyone have any idea how I can use it on the tax?
Also is it a free ebay listing this weekend?Mortgage: £280,752/ £262,515.84

I *think* as long as HMRC take card payments you phone up and give the details of the card (wouldn't bother with the fact it is a prepaid card, just tell THEM it is a debit card - which it effectively is) then they take the money, but you are going to be hammered with the exchange rate ...... might be worth phoning the card people up and asking what the exchange rate is? Also checking you can effectively make UK purchases on it.
Other than than how about asking any friends / colleagues who use $ to swap the card for cash then you can use the cash?
How much extra is OH contributing to this? Does she know? Seems to be you doing a lot of the work and worry on the debt score here ... would like to know this is a problem shared.
Hope you get the answer on the card!Start info Dec11
